I know most of us are pretty down on the prospect of him as a HC and I doubt many teams will want to wait for Lions playoff run to end, but damn. He had that patchwork defense absolutely balling tonight and shutting down the Vikings high powered (and balanced) offense.

I also saw when they highlighted the Lions GM who put this defense and the rest of the team together.

If he doesn’t come with Glenn then we can forget replicating his success here.

Another defensive minded head coach is just going to be Allen 2.0

Defense wasn’t the problem under Allen

We need an offensive guy

bullshite. Did you watch our defense the last 2 seasons? As soon as DA became head coach, the defense started to spiral.

I agree I would prefer an offensive minded HC but I’m not entirely sold on AG being a bust, either.

DA was never a guy that commanded the locker room. He was never a leader. Good with Xs and Os but not a leader of men. AG seems to be just as good with Xs and Os but he’s more of a player’s coach. Lions D players LOVE him the way the entire team loves Campbell. Not saying he’s going to come here and be Mike Tomlin but I also don’t think he would be as bad as DA. I don’t think he’s THE guy but I can see a future there more so than I ever did with DA.

Tomlin and Campbell and John Harbaugh were never the smartest person in the room and were special teams guys that were leaders, could compartmentalize and run a team. Tomlin was a DC but only for a year. And that’s why they’ve had success. I see that pedigree with AG. Having said that, he’s inheriting a mess if he comes here and he’s going to fail. But I don’t buy he’s just DA 2.0

The defense was also on the field 3/4ths of the game because the offense went 3 and out in 44 seconds.

This year they absolutely quit. But before that it wasn't a huge issue

People down on him as a coach are just stupid people in general. Their entire stance is “what has he done, his defense isn’t that good?”. Their entire stance also don’t understand how many injuries they have and they just pitched a damn near shutout again explosive offense with backups all over the place. He would be a decent hire and he is one of the most respected assistants in all of football.
