Right, and I'm not arguing against Ingram...I'm glad he's on the team but he could get nicked up just as easy as the other guys... PT and RB didn't really get injured in college either. It just seemed like several people think (not you) that since we drafted the guy early he won't get beat up.

If I remember correctly LT had more rushing yards than our entire team in 2007.

Mentioned it initially but the more I've read the more I think Ivory's status could have been a larger factor in the push for Ingram than we know. Lisfranc recovery can be so tenuous that is possible he could be PUP to start the year.

Think about if Reggie is gone and Ivory not available for many games. I love what PT brings but definitely isn't a workhorse. 152 carries is the most he has ever had in college or pro. Hamilton is prolly at the bubble of being able to stay on an NFL roster at all. Relying on Wynn, Jones, or other waiver wire pickups isn't a formula for planning another Super Bowl run.

I have to admit that as much as I know that we needed defense, I was kind of hoping that we would have traded up for a left tackle in the 1st. I would have loved to take Solder or Costanzo in the first. Those two guys are plug and play guys as rookies, and would have helped our offense immensley from day 1. Bushrod is definitely not the answer! Although since drafting Ingram, I have actually become very happy with our draft. Especially knowing that Ingram is tough, and doesn't mind playing injured unlike the pussies that we have had in the backfield. It also helps alot that Ingram is an absolute stand up guy, I believe that he is extremely high character!

I take the no OT selections as a vote of faith in Charles Brown. Even though he was taken at the end of the 2nd Rd he was widely projected as a 1st Rder on potential. It may take another year of Bushrod plugged in or he may be ready to challenge this year. We'll see---- I hope.

I think you have a good point there, either way hopefully something happens this year because bushrod is horrible!

We'll get one next year. We needed every single defensive pick we got and we'll def. realize how valuable Ingram will be to us.

I think that he will be a very good back for us! We definitely needed some toughness in the backfield.

Although there were a lot of offensive lineman, I really think this was a weak offensive line class. Not that any of them won't be solid players, but there was no Michael Oher, D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Russell Okung or Joe Thomas worth moving up for.

On top of that, you'd rather trade Cameron Jordan and Mark Ingram to get Costanza or Solder? No thanks.

As bad as Bushrod was last season, Stinchcomb was even worse. Both tackle positions can use an upgrade. Payton seems very high on Charles Brown. Hopefully Brown steps up, shows his potential, & takes the starting spot from Bushrod. Moving forward though, its time the organization begins to look for a replacement for Stinchcomb. Stinchcomb is a very intelligent, high character guy but due to wear & tear, I think his best football is behind him. The two starting tackles we have now have the potential to get Brees killed. Maybe with a renewed running game, that will slow down the outside rushers they have to block & make their jobs a little easier.

Nice read on Ingram and expectations HERE

A rare legitimate three-down back, the ’09 Heisman Trophy winner is a hyper-valuable do-it-all player in the old-school mold when NFL teams ran their backs into the ground with nary a thought to career length. Ingram is a great inside rusher who also can blast outside under the right circumstances, but he can catch and block as well. That should put him on the field quite a bit in a slightly refurbished New Orleans offense.

-----------
solidifying my expectations mentioned...

Ingram 250-300 carries
1000-1263yds

PT 500-660yds
Reggie 200-300yds (if back)
Ivory what's leftover, more with no Reggie

just curious, anyone else have any such projections of their own?

I like the ingram bush pt rotation for the 1st three quarters to try and build a lead then ivory to come in for the fourth to pound a tired defense and protect the lead if we have one. Plus it limits ivory's carries to try and keep him healthy

I say 2500 rushing yards total for the coming year.

1000 Ingram
800 PT
550 Ivory
150 Reggie

What's ya'lls current Reggie return guess?

I go 66%

Ivory is tricky cuz of the injury. They certainly won't rush him. Currently I'd go 33% or more that he starts the season on the PUP. Usually a full year for that recovery. I think his status was a major factor in pushing for Ingram.

Didnt know it was that serious. Guess I should change my projection.
