Those are two distinct things.

I completely agree that both are problematic.

I’d argue that our bad ownership is the greater negative issue.

Gayle is “working to win”* like I’m Orville Wright.

Her lieutenant Lauscha (age ~55) has a lifetime contract and if he survives Gayle he will be the executor of her estate charged with selling the Saints & Pels off and taking the proceeds into a charitable foundation to benefit the metro NOLA area.

In the meantime, he can choose folks to run the Saints and the team go 0-17 and the Pels go 0-82 and Gayle wouldn’t touch him. (See “lifetime contract”)

If I were an NFL head coach candidate, the Saints job is on a par with the Jets job. One of the most least desirable HC positions in the league.

*that was a Tom Benson quote from the Mora era, if I remember correctly. And there was some truth in it. Benson was actively involved and trying to win. Gayle hopes her teams win but doesn’t actually do anything to help that become reality. Including (but not limited to) holding anyone accountable.
