There is 0 reason for Rattler to start 17 games.

As long as he keeps improving there is.

but clearly his body of work does not show him to be an above average NFL starter. We need to see if Shough is that guy

Rattler has shown elite pocket awareness, something I'm sure Shough doesn't have. Maybe Shough can throw TDs in the redzone. Who knows. I know we don't have a WR worth a shite on this roster when it comes to redzone though.

Another week, another loss for Spencer Rattler.

This is pretty disingenuous. Rattler isn't turning the ball over nor is he costing the Saints with negative plays.

Juwan doesn't fumble and Olave catches 2 of the 3 drops he had, and the Saints likely win this game. That's the truth.

But yeah it's Rattler who "lost" the game, not the dipshit players who come up super small when needed the most.

The hard part is that we have to keep reminding ourselves that we knew this wasn't going to be easy from a sense that we weren't going to win a lot of games this year

Agreed, but what I wanted to see is what's happening. The Saints are losing but the team is playing hard and for the most part, in most of the games they've played this year.

Rattler probably does give them the best chance to win right now. He does not make mistakes and is competent. He makes plays with his feet and doesn't panic a lot.

Most young guys make huge mistakes, need time to develop competence and will panic at times. They cost you games often early on

Rattler is also succeeding in the area that is Shough’s biggest weakness, he’s staying calm despite (a lot of) pressure. I think the status of the OL is a big reason why they really haven’t considered Shough yet. By far the worst thing about his college film is how he reacted when pressured and we’re giving up a lot it right now. Rattler is nowhere near perfect but he’s eluding pressure at a high level currently.

I don’t think Rattler has done enough to prove he’s the guy, not even close. But I also think that for this season we have to get a good chance to evaluate EVERYONE on the team who is or could be a starter, and I think throwing Shough out there now might hamper their ability to evaluate the other guys (not QB). I’m fine standing pat until Rattler has a bad stretch of games.

What does it say about our offense that Rattler routinely grades out as one of our best offensive players?

I think you are 100% correct on the evaluation process concerning Ratt vs Tyler as its not just theirs on the offense. It may be a question of when are we mathematically eliminated to see Tyler getting reps.
