That said, I we can't move him, I hope he magically figured it out and will lead us to the Western Conference Finals, but I just don't trust him any further than I can throw him.

I 100% understand. Bowdown just beat me to the punch on the Lucy/football analogy that I was going to make.

But a lot of posters here overlook what he did earlier this season. He came into the season in relatively "improved" shape, but still not nearly where he should have been. He got hurt, missed a month of basketball, and showed up in SIGNIFICANTLY better shape. Coming back off of a month-long injury in better shape would be impressive for even the most dedicated players, but it's insane for a lazy twat like Zion to do it. I was 95% in on Zion as a longterm Pel after that, and he's only been looking better since then. I don't know if he's naturally maturing (probably not based on the tats/baby mama drama) or if he simply got pissed about the likes of Shaq/Barkley ragging on him, but it doesn't really matter.

It's probably stupid of me, but I'm not worried at all about Zion starting next season out of shape. He may put on a few pounds relative to where he is now, but nothing crazy. I am a bit worried that he won't improve his deficiencies (I'm about to start a thread on this). He's improved a bit as a player in his career, but not as much as you'd like. And the things that he has improved on (distributor, shiftyness/touch around the rim) were already pretty great when he was a rookie, so there's diminishing returns working on those parts of his game.

Zion came back post injury in better shape. He has absolutely played like a top 10-15 player the last few months, but the fan base is also justified in not trusting him. I get it. I started this post out if a genuine elation watching Zion play. It reminded me of the feeling I had watching his 1st game at Duke.

What makes Zion so frustrating to root for is that every glimpse of brilliance is followed by injury or immaturity. That is real. However, he is a dominant force at 24 with plenty of room to improve. That is rare. The reason you see a flurry of Zion trade articles is bc other teams have taken note and want him. The good thing is we have him on a great contract for the next 3 years...his athletic prime. Rarely do stars win consistently until their mid 20's.

The fact some lf you are desperate to sell him off for .70 on the dollar...is just strange. Do yall realize straight up we might not ever have a more exciting player? I want him in NOLA. I want basketball in New Orleans to work. Some of yall just want to be miserable.

The Lucy and the Football analogy is perfect

But I want to roll the dice again with Zion and see what happens next season.

Hopefully whatever changed after his injury sticks in the off-season.
