I went to the last two games (76’ers and Spurs) and watched the players stagger out at different times to shoot around before the games.

Both nights Zion was the last person to come out and in both occasions came out like 5 minutes before tip off. Shooting maybe 10 shots and rolling into the game.

Any idea why he’s the last guy out? I’d imagine he’s in the locker room stretching. My 11 year old said “he’s probably taking a big dump right before the game”.

Just wondering why he wouldn’t be out shooting around with the rest of the team pregame.

Almost certainly treatment and stretching routine.

Same assumption as you, extra stretch work and treatment to get his muscles loose and activated.

Every game I’ve been to, Zion was one of the few out there super early and working for a long time. Him, JV and Naji always, and usually BI.

Possible he was actually one of the first ones out and then went back in to stretch before tip.

Just wondering. In both games I was in my seat an hour before tip off and he wasn’t out there.

JV was out first, then BI and then Naji just like a previous poster mentioned.

I’m sure he’s going through shooting drills earlier in the day and stretching right before the game.

Not bashing the guy in any way, just genuinely interested if anyone knows what he does before the tip off.

It’s probably stretching. I think he goes out there very early and gets shots up, then stretches before tip. And he can do that because he doesn’t really need to have his shot “warm” right before the game since most shots are at the rim

On Wednesday I was there 2 hours before tip because my group had access to pre-game warmups. Herb was warming up when we got out there, then CJ, Cody, Kira, and Val

We asked about it and were told that everyone else had already been out there before we even got there

This is his routine. He usually comes out right after benchwarmers are sent out. He does about 5 minutes of shoot around and that’s it. Was like this last year as well.

Unless you know what his entire game day schedule and routine looks like, you can't really assume anything. His teammates especially CJ has came out on several occasions talking about how much work he's putting in when the game isn't being played. It's working because he's been really healthy up to this point.

I’m not trying to throw shade on the guy, sorry if anyone on this board took it that way.

Just wondering what his pregame routine was.

He doesn’t shoot during the game. I’d rather him be getting his body right and getting limber.

I assume you must not get out there early enough. Zion is generally out there right when you can enter the arena. About an hour and a half before game time. He’s there prior to JV. He does a whole bunch of different things and shoots a lot of free throws. Then he goes in often with JV reviewing game plan with a coach on the bench, and Bi and Naji getting shots up. They are all pretty consistent with their process. As I’ve mentioned before, Naji comes out as one of the last dapping up all the workers, giving out shoes and warming up.

It’s hard to miss Zion out there, I have to assume you go in an hour before tip off and not an hour and a half.

Players work out well before doors even open.
