When does Gentry use timeouts?

Id take Monty’s defense over this offense tbh. I cant stand scoring 100ppg all the time and giving up 120.

Monty’s teams didn’t play defense either. They’re def rating rankings were wayyy worse than Gentry’s tenure here. They were just super fricking slow.

Monty’s last 3 seasons - 28, 27, 22 (playoff year with QPon)

Gentry’s last 4 seasons - 27, 9, 14, 24 (this dumpster fire defense)

To be fair, I’d consider it disingenuous to not point out that this current defense is the worst of the 7 by DRating and even the “better” rankings for Gentry are still not that much better than the two bad Monty teams.

I just think the rankings accurately depict the league wide picture a little better.

It doesn’t much matter. They both had the same defensive philosophy. Give up the 3 pt line to not give up penetration.

This year’s defense is easily the most frustrating of the 7 too. You have TWO fricking All NBA First Team Defense guys. How can you suck this bad? These guys aren’t paper champs either and earning that placement on gaudy useless stats. They’re both damn good defenders, especially Jrue Holiday who has to be the most overlooked defender in the league. I wonder how many people know there is a little 6’4” guard in NOLA that checks Blake Griffin in the 4th because our bigs can’t. This staff can’t even devise a “bad” scheme around these two? It’s gotta go straight to dumpster fire? frick off Gentry...
