What stats will it take this year for NAW to earn a starting spot?

Let’s say he starts a couple games because another player is injured and he averages 16/8/5/2 in 36 minutes (that’s exactly what CP3 averaged his rookie year).
Would that be enough to get him in the starting lineup by the end of the year?
And what do you imagine that starting lineup would look like?

He won't start this year barring injury. If he plays a substantial amount of time in that case, then he has a chance to earn a starting role next year. Then the trade machine will be in full effect to figure out what to do with Lonzo.
I don't see any of that happening though.

I think Lonzo's play is just as big of a factor as NAW's play. Meaning, NAW would have to ball out and Lonzo would have to have been playing poorly after returning from injury for him to earn the starting spot.

there is a huge gap between NAW and Lonzo. And this is coming from someone that undervalues Lonzo and overvalues NAW

Could you see them sharing the floor at all? The one thing I like about NAW is that he is a nice combo guard that could probably play both positions equally well. I guess it depends on if his 3 point shooting works out as expected. Defensively it seems like they would be an aggressive backcourt. NAW’s d was surprisingly good in summer league I thought.

NAW was projected as a 2 before he was drafted. Him showing chops as a point was a development in the Summer League.
Him and Ball sharing the floor shouldn’t be a problem.

Well yeah I could see them sharing the floor but they wouldn't start together unless Jrue is hurt

Summer League doesn’t matter. I like him and think he is a future player, but people are overvaluing what he did in summer league. He was really loose with his passing and he is going to be bothered getting to and finishing at the rim against the longer, faster athletes relative to SL.
It was nice to see him excel in SL, but if he is starting this year, it means we have problems.

quote:Lonzo and Jrue, and possibly even Frank would all have to be injured for that to occur. Basically if NAW is starting at all this year, it's not a good sign.

Even if those guys were all out, they'd probably experiment with starting Ingram as the main ball handler next to Redick and Hart.

jrue can be the 3 vs some lineups.
And during games.
So naw not starting but playing big role late in games where he's cooking during his early stint.
