Weigh in with your thoughts on the pregame prayer

Easter appropriate topic...
I for one hate it. That's the remnant of the Shinn era that I want gone. There's no reason to have these public prayers in a city as diverse as New Orleans, where I'd imagine a large number of prime season ticket holders are Jewish (Morris Bart is a prominent example who immediately comes to mind). We aren't Charlotte and we aren't Oklahoma City - we're a progressive, world-class tourist destination who welcomes residents of all colors and beliefs. And we've been that way for about as long as any city in American history.
I could rant on and on but I'll abstain until I see others weigh in.

I don't see why non-Christians and atheist get so pissed about prayer. Some of my friends from school are Muslim and when they pray I just stand to the side and let them. When I pray my atheist friends don't say anything and let me pray. If you don't believe in it don't join it. The facts are that they majority of the country/New Orleans are Christians so if they want to have a group prayer they should and if you don't believe in this, don't participate. Seems easy to me.

It isn't a taxpayer funded activity, so pray away says this atheist. I get your point about the diversity of the city, but when someone says merry christmas to me, or god bless you, or whatever the case might be, it doesn't bother me. If they want to pray I'll just sit there quietly and reflect on my day, think about when I'll get laid next, make a to do list, etc until they're done.

I agree. The prayer is ignorant as shite and does irritate non-christians. Sure, the majority is christian, but whyI say "frick the minority."? That minority probably makes more money on average.

I think you're a pussy. How something like prayer bothers people so much blows my mind. If you don't want to partake in it, then don't. How fricking hard is that?

So you don't mind my conversation continuing?

so are you mad at the saints and 27 other nba teams for not having a pregame prayer?
Posted on 4/8/12 at 10:46 am to Jester
Not at all. I've put my two cents in.

Or do I need to sit there silently with my dick in my hand while you perform your goofy, archaic ritual?

Absolutely not.

Maybe you can sit there and whine like a bitch for the 10 seconds you are inconvenienced by a prayer.
Posted on 4/8/12 at 10:49 am to Jester
Isn't the path already set by Yahweh's "perfect" plan? Prayer seems kind of arrogant with that in mind.

Trivia - who led the first ever Hornets prayer?
Anecdote - my favorite ever Hornets pregame prayer came in the 2nd or 3rd season when the black minister with the stereotypical SOOOOOARING oratory felt inclusive, and prayed for the Lord to bless "our Jewish brothers and sisters in Christ"

yeah, and none of those assholes show up until half way through the first anyway. i bet some of them don't even know that there is a pre-game prayer.
if they don't like it, they can EABOD. the fact that we are in such a diverse city makes it all the more reasonable that there should be a pre-game prayer.
