That was Philly's pick, not ours.

If we picked for ourselves, we would have gotten Mclemore, IMO. Our pick will be in the 12-18 range next year.

You want to call that a small price? Fine. But I just cant see how you can argue that point definitively.

Anyone who would take Burke over Holiday is a damn fool.

I wasn't sold on Mclemore, but I would have taken him over Noel (assuming no trade).

If we gave up Austin Rivers and another first rounder would you be saying that those 2 first round picks is better value?

I think if we gave up a 2015 1st instead of 2014 nearly everyone would happy. People assume that because this draft is supposed to be star studded that we'd get the next Kahwi Leonard with the #11 pick. That certainly is possible, but it's far from a guarantee. 2003 was actually a pretty meh draft after the star studded top. The first 14 picks in the 2003 draft:

1 Lebron James
2 Darko Milicic
3 Carmelo Anthony
4 Chris Bosh
5 Dwayne Wade
6 Chris Kaman
7 Kirk Hinrich
8 TJ Ford
9 Michael Sweetney
10 Jarvis Hayes
11 Mickael Pietrus
12 Nick Collison
13 Marcus Banks
14 Luke Ridnour

All Star players taken after 14
18 David West
29 Josh Howard
47 Mo Williams

people are just a little irrational in this trade.

Is it not possible to think that we got a good deal, but could have gotten a better deal?

I have read that Tony Parker is not a top 5 point guard in this thread, yet Holliday is. Yeah, I'm the one that doesn't know what they are talking about.

He's not top 5 when you take into consideration our circumstances.

Why would any young, rebuilding team want to take on a 31 year old parker?

Because he actually is a top 5 point guard.

ETA: Tony Parker will kill us over the next 4 years of Holliday's contract.

ETA round 2: No one in this thread ever suggested that Tony Parker was an option or consideration.

Maybe so, but I trust demps at this point. We didn't even know we would be getting Jrue I think thats a great deal.

Holiday stands a better chance against Parker than anyone on our team or anyone we could have drafted.

This.

Can anyone on this board say two weeks ago that they would take Burke, Gravy, or Rivers over Jrue?

Because they probably wouldn't be rebuilding anymore if they had a Player the caliber of a Tiny Parker on their team.

This argument sure has gotten derailed

So now we picked up Jrue specifically to stop Tony Parker; an aging, over the hill point guard.

One player doesn't turn a rebuild around, unless his name is Lebron James.
