I'm confused with what happened in the draft?
We had an opportunity to grab Burke but obviously we balked. Can someone explain what happened with this trade and if its based on conditions or stipulations next season? Someone make sense of this for me, thanks.

Demps knew\found out jrue holiday was on the trading block. I instead of taking a chance on a rookie he chose the proven all star top 5 guard in league for a small price.
Benson has probably stressed to demps to hurry up with winning!

Burke will never be more than an average point guard in the NBA. That's why.

What do people not understand about it being greater to get an all-star PG over drafting an unproven rookie.
This gives us more options and makes us a better team. Idk how we are on cap space, but I'd imagine we can sign a decent player to really help if we can get someone here. It also makes trading EG easier if he really is a bitch and doesn't want to be here.
The pelicans are thinking win sooner rather than waiting later. I like it.

The 76ers also get a top 3 pick next season?
I'm reading a 1-3 protected? What's that mean?

If our pick next year is in the top 5 it's ours, outside of that it's theirs

if the pick is 1-5 NO will get it, but the reality is if Jrue does what they hope he does we will have a very small possibility of getting a pick that high. NO is trying to get to the playoffs now, so give up a low draft pick next year for a great trade this year. Not to mention we still have alot of cap space to sign a good free agent SF.

Dude if our first round pick next year ends up 1-5 we get to keep it. If it is 6-30 it goes to Philly.
It is 1-5 protected, meaning we are protected from losing it if it falls 1-5
