The team was 14-15 from the return of Gordon through the last game Smith played. That's as close to 0.500 as you can get. Their active salary is about $5m below the minimum allowed team salary. Before the return they were closer to $15m below that and around half the cap at some points when Davis was injured.

I'm sorry, I am encouraged by that. If all teams were created equally with average players and equal salaries, they'd all win about half of their games. This team is doing that with a thin roster and a max deal of dead money that goes away this offseason. That says the team should not be playing that well (and they are playing better than that) and have a ton of capacity to improve in the offseason (though it may not happen).

It happens there.

That creates an expectation that less salary is better?

That means every team in every sport should be able to do this? Or, the guy who, you know, lost, should be able to somehow win against the richer team that now knows what he knows and can out-Bean him?

Try addressing the salary and record stuff above. Thanks.

a bad team losing to another bad team. we should be taking these losses as a blessing, top 5 gets us a decent shot at a starter next year to replace aminu and MAYBE, key word, making a run at .500

we win ourselves out of the top 5, we may just be as bad next year.

they have one playoff series win in 15 years since he's been there. in the 10 years before him they made 3 world series and won 1.

3rd and 2nd in their division 2011 and 2010 respectively. Is that mediocre for a team who has 100 of million of dollars less to spend than 95% of the MLB.

When you have the Yankees and Red Sox and mets and angels spending 100 million more than you that is a good thing. The hornets are fighting for lottery the last 2 years.
