I actually don’t blame him for wanting out, he thought his value was higher than it was. He decided to gamble on himself and thought he’d be able to play his way into a contract somewhere. Signing with Milwaukee and the glut of big men they have, wasn’t very smooth. But him leaving China by getting “kicked out of practice” sounds pretty calculated to me. He thinks there must be an NBA contract here for him.

I honestly would not be shocked if TJ got terrible advice from his agent and that’s all that happened here. No drama around his departure. No rumors. Seemed amicable enough. Don’t he and Boogie share the same agent? Would make a ton of sense to give the agent a bone to pave the way for a better relationship.

Oddly enough, he probably cost himself millions whoever made the call. Comes off looking like he’s only in it for the $$$. Contract year. Getting stats. Pels make a trade to improve chances at postseason. Wants out.

If he would’ve just stayed, he’d have gotten decent playing time, likely playing nearly 100% of the time next to an All NBA big.

The only thing that worries me is that his agent would try to saddle the Pelicans with another terrible contract by holding Cousins’ signature hostage similar to how the Tristan and Lebron crap played out in Cleveland. TJ is not TT, but we don’t need a guy averaging 7/5 to get a 4/28 Demps payday.

I wonder if Terrence Jones looks at the contracts of Asik/Ajinca and wants a February do-over so bad.

I think people are overstating how much his minutes were going to crater. We’d probably only run a 3 big rotation with Jones next to Davis or Cousins at all times. Assuming they averaged 38 mpg and don’t miss any time due to foul trouble, injury, or suspension, that’s 20 mpg. He was averaging 25.

I'd prefer seeing AD at an average of 33 mpg and Boogie at about 30 mpg by the year's end. But we need another competent big to do that. T Jones can play with both AD and Boogie. So I think he'd be a good fit here.

It was tough to watch AD and Boogie playing into the 4th quarter against the Spurs. These 2 need to be resting & avoiding injury (in AD's case) and technical fouls (in Boogie's case). So its either we wait for the return of Asik & Ajinca or sign TJ.

Another way around this is Solo. He could push Cunningham to the bench and spend time at the 3 with AD and Boogie in, and/or time at the 4 when Boogie or AD go out. I mean thinking of a lineup like Jrue, Moore, Miller, Solo, & AD makes me really excited. He gives us so many more options. And then when we go up big like we did against San Antonio, Ajinca/Asik/Cunningham/Diallo can take over. The more I think about it the more I realize that Solo coming back, as mediocre as he has been, can drastically improve this team.

I suppose I could be wrong, but I remember him as a solid contributor.

He was decent. Let's not forget that we sucked when he was getting significant minutes
