NBA owners have to vote to approve the sale.
Getting a real shitbird to overpay for his 35%, or to force enough minority owners to sell as well to get 51%, could be a nice “frick you” by him.
Not sorry to see him go but, again, this means every franchise but one that CP3 has played for has had new ownership during his time there. Weird fricking coincidence, that, given how controversial Sarver, Sterling, and Shinn all were.

Weird focus on CP3, can you explain how he was involved in any of these sales?

Just pointing out that there have been very few owners forced out in the last 30 years.
Odd situation for the same player to be on the teams of those guys when it happened.
Shinn, Sarver, and Sterling were all forced out over a variety of reasons.
The only other owners I would consider forced out in that timeframe would probably be the Maloof Brothers in Sacramento.
Just odd as hell that the same guy ends up in all these situations.
Is he the Point God or Forrest Gump?

Shinn was forced out of Charlotte because the fan base revolted and stopped buying tickets.
Moving to NOLA bought him time but he was insolvent and relinquished the team rather than fail to meet payroll and have the franchise dissolved.

I agree with your general premise, but there are significant differences re: thsi analogy:
1. As per a couple of years ago, there are no longer "owners" in the NBA, after statements by black players saying "owners" were too akin to a slavery situation. League leadership caved; now calls them "governors".
2. You buy a house, you buy a business, and own it outright. You must be vetted and approved by other owners to purchase one of only 30 (thirty) FRANCHISES in the NBA. It is a limited and exclusive cabal or cartel.
3. The NBA, along with the other major leagues, have unionized talent, and have moved to more of a "partnership" model, often with pre-agreed sharing of profits. Players are far from being considered "employees" anymore.
4. Sarver does not own all of the team; he does not even own a majority of it (50%+). He is the largest shareholder, at about 35% and could be forced out by a coalition of the rest of the franchise's owners.
I own a share of apple stock. Can you make me resign as owner my share of stock
