Ultimately 5 is an arbitrary cutoff. Is 4 vs 6 drastically different and 1-2 vs 9-10 the real skew?

I understand the argument but The 4th pick has usually been bad.

It really hasn't been all that bad. Only 3 real stars in Chris Bosh, Chris Paul, and Russell Westbrook. But also got players like Reke, Mike Conley, Aaron Gordon who are high level role players.

The last couple have been underwhelming (Bender, Josh Jackson) but the only other true complete busts since 2000 are Marcus Fizer, Tyrus Thomas, and Wes Johnson. Also Kristaps was a 4th pick that didn't get included in my list, and Jaren Jackson Jr had a promising rookie year.

Here is the follow-up question I have with Turner, if Indiana is feeling pressure to move him eventually because of Sabonis sometime in the next season or so, why would the Pels still not remain a front-runner for him with the assets and young players we have? Who honestly can outbid the Pels? My guess is a deal for whoever we pick at 4 plus a late first rounder still gets it done in a year. Why the rush to hand this pick off?

Great question and I would tend to agree. We’re in the other conference, have a ton to offer and will have a better idea of how Ingram, Zion, 4, and Zo are growing/adapting as well. If Turner is someone we really like I’d hope we wouldn’t blow a ton of cash on a vet big in the meantime.

I like Turner a lot because I think he does have potential to be a borderline all star and besides Jrue our probably starting 5 would all be 23 and under. That wouldn’t feel like rushing a rebuild at all...and we’d likely still be a pretty competitive if not flawed team this year full of growing players.

I think there is some value to Zion coming into a competitive team and not spending a few years sucking.

Just traded a 23% chance at an all star for a 12% chance at an all star and salary relief. Horrible.
