Yves has been struggling for a bit. Should give him a week off

Griff really thought we’d be alright with theis and missi as our only big men. That alone is a fireable offense

We need a quality veteran center going into 2025/2026 bad.

Just as long as we stay in the bottom 3…I’d truly be happy with either Harper, Bailey, or Flagg.

This needs to be focused on. We have lost the last two games because of our center position.

In a combined 87 minutes over the last two games Missi and Theiss have combined for 2 total points and 20 rebounds. The opposing centers (I only counted Gafford tonight so one less player) have 57 points and 40 rebounds. It’s embarrassing. This team can’t beat anyone if we get absolutely zero production from the center position.

There's no possible way we will out tank Washington, Utah, Charlotte, and Brooklyn. I think the 5th worst record is our ceiling.

I think we can with Brooklyn and maybe Charlotte.

It depends on how serious griff is about tanking and what trades he may or may not do next week. Griff loves fence sitting and mediocrity so I’m expecting not much will happen

If we don’t let Zion play 30 min in any game we can tank with anyone. He has scored more points than minutes played 3 games in a row and we have lost to Toronto, Charlotte, and Dallas minus Luka.

Not Brooklyn for sure. They're 3-13 for the month and have ramped up the tank to a new level after a strong first month.

Charlotte lost Miller for the year. LeMelo and Williams are an injury waiting to happen. They are definitely not winning more games than we are this year.

Some stats from tonight:

Total rebounds: Mavs: 51 Pels: 35

2nd chance points: Mavs: 32 Pels: 13

Offensive Rebounds: Mavs: 16 Pels: 9

Our injuries better not hide the fact that Griff engaged in GM malpractice by coming into a season with Missi and Theiss as our only centers on the roster.

Missi has been a steal but man he has a long way to go with defensive rebounding. He’s already one of the best offensive rebounders in the league but he might be one of the worst centers in the league at grabbing defensive boards.

He needs to spend all summer gaining muscle, learning how to box out and rebounding.

Yeah, Wiz and Jazz seem like the only sure things worse than us. We're currently in the 3 spot and have a tough schedule ahead. Trade BI and I'm sure Zs next "injury" isn't far away.

If we can’t dump CJ for an expiring this deadline, then I would see if the blazers would swap Ayton for CJ. They’re on pretty much the same contract. Ayton is frustrating and overpaid but he’s still a good rebounder and consistent double double guy. Him and Missi would be a pretty decent center rotation for next year

On the positive side, Z and Trey look like they can develop into a formidable duo, especially if Murray continues to progress around them.

the East has so many bad teams tho they’ll sneak a couple wins. They still have to play Charlotte twice and Washington twice as well as Portland.

Unfortunately, NBA draft doesn't work that way. Bottom 3 likely won't happen and isn't a guarantee you get a top 3 pick.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. I have no idea what he was hoping for - perhaps that Zion, BI, Herb and Trey won't have any injuries at all and we would play a center for 20-25min per game. Or maybe that was his secret plan in order to get top draft pick to replace BI.
But it was a great game. Zion, Trey and Dejonte develops their chemistry, but still ends up in a close loss, so our chances to get into 3-5 worse record looks quite good with our schedule.

Missi was highest +/- on team with +13 and 4 blocks. They just need to leave him out there to figure it out. He should be our asset we devote the most attention to this season.
