the thing holding them back is dropping stupid games to inferior teams.

And there is no reason to believe that we can fix that immediately. To have a legit shot at the playoffs, we absolutely need to win our next 5 straight. After that, depending on what Mempis does, I seriously wouldn't be shocked to see the Warriors "rest" players and give us six straight, along with another win later in the season.

I know that we're all excited about the Grizz win last night. And I know that the Pels have played up to their competition, but we're going to lose some games that we shouldn't. Plus the Thunder, besides getting Durant back any day now, have 7 of their next 8 at home.

Realistically, we need an injury to Westbrook, Dirk, or Ellis to make the playoffs.

Speaking seriously, you don't think that the Pels deserve to be playing in the postseason with the shitshow East? Every other SW team is guaranteed to make it into the playoffs and we have the best inter-division record of all of them (7-5, Mempis = 7-6, Hou = 5-7, SA = 4-6, Dal = 6-6). We're a young team that struggles with consistency, but we're very good against the West's playoff teams.

Typically teams at the top of the standings don't "get up" for teams worse than them, it's human nature. This explains why the Pels do OK against teams above them and the standings, and also why teams below the Pels in the standings have had success against the Pels.

Answer me this in the games the pels lost to teams below them in the standings was it not due to the pels not playing their best game, not matching the other teams energy? Obvious answer is yes. Well it would be foolish to assume that same thing doesn't happen at times when teams better than the pels don't bring their A game and lose to the pels. Amirite?

The lesser teams have success against us because we're young as frick and Reke/EG are super inconsistent. Jrue is inconsistent as well offensively, but is always a great defender. Once he's healthy, we can play him 34mpg and role with the hotter of the other two. Everyone getting experience together will also help out a ton. We probably end up with the 9th seed, but Memphis, Dallas, and SA are getting old. Keep the team as is, and I could see the Pels being as good as Memphis is now, but with a superstar as opposed to Gasol's All Star.

Agreed. But this has happened in must win games. It's not because we take lesser teams for granted, it's because we're very young, have some good but inconsistent players, and are not well coached.

The pelicans are a fringe playoff team in the toughest division of any professional sport. They are a good team. If they are taken lightly that's just stupid.

And as mentioned look at the celtics game Friday, getting a loss in basically a must win. Inconsistency has been a problem though it has gotten better.

What about the Pels going into OKC and winning an important game? Did OKC take them lightly? No, the Pels can beat anyone in the NBA. We finally have decent depth as well.

Don't be talking about my boy Mr. Franchise. He's consistent.

30 games since his injury, 10 games <.400 from 3, and 4 games <.300 from 3

Well maybe in 3-4 years, maybe. But not next year. It'll likely be a battle for the 8th seed for the Pels next year too.

No, not with depth like this. They've already matched the win total from last season. They'll likely get around 45 wins this year. I have no doubt they can break 50 next season, which will be good enough to get in. I think this is the Spurs last run.

You don't think that getting even 70 games each from Jrue and Ryno make a difference of 3 or 4 games?

And even if we get the exact same number of games played from every player, we are insanely young. IIRC we are officially the 4th youngest, but THE youngest team when you take into account minutes played by youngins (ie Salmons is old as frick but never played).
