Exactly. If Hayes wasn’t all 3 of an actual retard, immature to the point of beating his model girlfriend, and played with absolutely no motor and passion. If he just was only 2/3 of those he would have been a good player and if only 1/3 a great one. It’s a damn shame. Would have been an incredible fit next to Zion too
You forgot to include that Hayes wanted to play like a guard and didn’t want to do all the dirty work that’s required for an NBA 5 (though I guess that could fall under your number 1 issue). Yes, like Hayes, Missi is raw and still needs a lot of work executing different coverages, understanding concepts, and improving his positioning. But he’s by all accounts a hard worker with super high character, and maybe more importantly, he is willing to do the dirty work we need from a 5

Defensively, his ability to guard the pick and roll and protect the rim is impressive.
For 3 years we've been roasted in the PNR because JV is slow and then get destroyed on the boards and have no rim protection when we play nance cuz he's too small.
It's nice to have a guy that can do both.
Offensively he's very raw but what is very promising is when he attacks the rim off the dribble from the top of the 3pt line. He doesn't look as clumsy and uncoordinated as you would expect.

The more highlights I see the more I see Clint Capela.

I also have more faith in this guy cause he’s African. He’s not an entitled American like Jaxson, I think we’ll look back and wonder how he dropped to 21

So we drafted a 7 foot dude who can
play defense and protect the rim. That’s a bad thing?
