He is big on motion offense.

Which is why I think he may try to bring Bob Beyer over (a tread I started that no one responded to lol).

Issue with Pels was they always were trying to run force pace. So many unforced turnovers because of pace. Favors doesn’t have that much life in those old legs for that pace.

I would expect he will try.

Another hallmark of SVG teams: low turnover %. His teams generally play defense and don't turn the ball over.

Both of those are music to my fricking ears.

He was on an obscure data science podcast I came across a couple of months ago, and it is clear SVG, unlike Gentry, holds a philosophy of listening to the data and results as opposed to letting your preferred philosophy drive the design of your team.

Meaning, in essence, if your team is turning the ball over a lot, the problem eventually becomes you not adjusting your offensive system and the roles of players as opposed to trying to do the same thing over and over expecting different results. Which is how I feel Gentry operated most of the time. He has a way he wants to play, hell or high water, and if things aren't working it's because player's arent executing. Combine that with a pretty lax style of coaching and discipline, and it's not hard to see why our teams always seem to come out the gate slow, struggling, and seem to take a long time to adjust.

That’s one name I did hear. Not sure we can make that happen . Would be good move. Do you guys think any of Gentry’s assistants survive ?

Vinson and McMillan were both Monty era assistants that have lasted/returned and I'd expect both to stick around now. I think Finch is gone. They paid Bzdelick a lot to convince him to take the job in the first place and then he chose not to enter the bubble. I think he's done too unless he scales down to consultant. So IMO they'll need to hire an OC and DC, or 2 top level assistants.

FYI, Favors is 29 and a year younger than Jrue.

The real problem is you probably shouldn't be trying to lead the league in pace when you have turnover-prone guards and your two starting big men aren't really built for that life at the time. Pace without purpose or justifiable cause is just an easier opportunity for error IMO.

In his press conference following the firing of Gentry.

Ah, I remember that, guess I was just hoping for some fresh reassurances.

Since it seems like the cat is out on Vinson and I would like to know we aren't gonna have him poached.

I would think if it's about money then they'd pay him to stay. If someone offers him a promotion, I'm not sure there's much you can do if you see his value as a shot doctor.

Interesting no immediate leaks of assistants. Lue's lead assistant leaked immediately (Billups). Might be taking our time with that.

If it's Weaver I wonder if he wants to go back to Australia and tell some people in person before news gets out.

I'm not saying Finch was part of the problem, but it feels like Griff didn't see him as part of the solution. Finch and Gentry were very aligned in not believing in a rigid system as much as having a more random/dynamic system. That randomness lead to Lonzo taking more 3s than JJ some games.

Some of the thoughts I've seen about ways SVG can improve the offense is to give it the structure and hierarchy that it had lacked. Have the offense run through BI and Zion more instead of giving whoever is open the green light. I think Finch will move on and be replaced by someone who will fit better.
Agree, 100%. I think that the Finch system can work with sometimes, but I don't think it was a good fit for the talent that we had.

Incorrect.

There was a gap of at least 4 minutes between Tweets confirming the respective hires from Shams

it's tongue in cheek gize

Honestly, I like the guy, wouldn't mind seeing him stick around, but some of the luster of Finch sort of went away when it seemed like Denver never really missed a beat and in many ways has continued to evolve and improve offensively.
