Is it not also on Zion —-we got near a number one seed and then he didn’t play the rest of the season ?

There isn’t big enough sample size bc he has t played enough games which is a Zion problem more than a coaching problem .
We're halfway through the season, and he's been healthy.

We've wasted a half season where we could have found out and gathered more information on this very topic.

So do you think the entire organization is just oblivious to this or inept ?

Or do you think it’s been a conscious decision bc he has not earned it , isn’t dependable , isn’t good enough in his current condition, etc.

I would bet on the latter.

Basically, yes I do

They think and do everything they possibly can all the way down to ensuring BI is announced last in the starting lineup pregame.

There's no world where BI is nearly as good as Zion.

So I can't have any other answer than it's just inept for them to think and act on that the way they have.

I replied to the first one before I read this one. I'd say this definitely plays into the first part, but it still doesn't change my answer.

Zion is here now and playing and healthy this season. Unleash him as the #1 dude that everything runs through like a Luka, Ja or Giannis(pre Dame especially) and let the chips fall wherever they may.

If it fails, I can live with that.

I obviously can’t know exactly what they are thinking but here are my thoughts on what it probably looks like as someone who was lucky enough to play the game for a while and runs a business now :

1. Zion has been the least dependable person in the organization.
2. The point Zion model / everything goes through him is not sustainable - see #1
3. Zions conditioning is not on par with the guys you noted nor is his skill set so you can’t treat him like Ja, Luka , giannis bc he can’t do the things they do consistently- see #2.
4. Zion has not added to his game at all in 5 years as a pro.
5. Playing everything through Zion is not a winning playoff formula bc good teams can defend it bc he has 1 move - see # 2 and 4.
6. Putting Zion on a pedestal , see #1, 2, 3, 4 would cause a revolt bc Players know just like anyone else in any other business . Guys/ ladies that don’t do things the right way are not respected like the folks that do .

Remember CJ blatantly calling out Zion in his presser last year ? You think he has a lot of respect for him?

The game is not played in a vacuum. Organizations are not built in a vacuum. It’s easy to as a fan to say play this combo of players or the numbers say this and those things should be on the table and considered but it’s not always that simple .
Culture matters.

Separate from the above Zion has never been an all nba player and is not currently an all star. Let’s not overhype what he should be or what he’s capable of when he’s repeatedly shown us who he is . The guys you listed have sustained success at a level Zion has not .

Finally , everyone clamored for more ball and player movement this year which has happened . Now we want to go back to just give Zion the ball and see what happens ?

Sry for the long post

Great post!

I'd just say that even if the reliability stuff is spot on, which it obviously seems to be, going Zion centric with shooters is imo the clearcut way to maximize this team. Can it fail? Sure. But this current squad, I don't see any logical argument to say another scheme/strategy can max this team out more than Zion centric.

And again, maybe and even probably Zion centric doesn't bring ultimate success, but imo I am absolutely certain any other strategy will be an automatic fail.

Give one example of my nba takes that I need to a psychologist over? I’m curious.

I was just joking man but lets start with you thinking Zion needs to see a sports psychologist to rebound better lol.
