Nothing unexpected. Evans was waiting for us to top that offer, but we were smart not to, in essence, negotiate against ourselves. Now barring a major trade (anything involving Greivis Vasquez as the centerpiece is not a major trade. Whoever suggests this needs to watch more basketball) that derails our current plans, we should match this solid offer first thing on the 10th. Nothing has been done by Vivek and Co. to indicate otherwise.

Next, we can turn our sights on to the AK-47s of the world.

I feel they aren't worried about losing tyreke as much as looking bad to other FAs

I would be surprised if they didn't match. Not like they don't have the cap space and, worst case scenario, they can just trade him in a year for better assets than they'd get now. Not as if they're competing for a title this season.

It's like the Gordon situation except Evans isn't injured the majority of his career.

If our fans were in the same spot as the Kings, it would be a foregone conclusion on here we would match Tyreke's offer. I have doubts they will match. A lot of bluffs by their front office.

I really hope you are right.

This. If Kings don't match that GM should be fired on the spot.

Yeah, they will match if they have to but everything they've done says they don't want to. They have a price they'll walk away for.

I'm thinking they were looking at the offer they had on the table to Iggy, and then realized they could keep Tyreke and save several million a year with only a slight drop off (if any) in talent. Pure conjecture on my part, but seems plausible.

They also could have sent the rumors out that there was no intention to resign him to place a downward pressure on his offers. The Iggy rumors may have been to further keep teams thinking there was no way they were going to match.

If the Kings sign Tyreke, they wouldn't be able to trade him to us. Maybe they don't trust that other teams will want that contract?

My thinking as well

As I said earlier, last year, Dell kept saying that we'd match any offer that Gordon got. Sac has done nothing like that

I wonder if they'll take Vasquez, Lopez, and a pick?
