He's been working with loans for the past decade, I and others thought this was a new thing, it isn't. I don't think he is in good shape by any means, but he's parlayed a small amount of money into 20+ years of ownership. he can last a few more, especially if he has trouble letting go. again, i think Chouest will eventually get control, hell it could be tommorow. i just don't think a time table shouldn't be put on it, especially when the owners are not on speaking terms. he's not on speaking terms with Ray Wooldridge or any of the Charlotte guys either. he's a piece of shite.

he dies, and Chad would sell the Hornets for a lifetime supply of snack pack.
Posted on 7/23/10 at 12:18 am to NIH
Chouest would just have to get Chad stoned and offer him 10 million dollars in Taco Bell coupons.

management shipping him out now for "financial reasons" would simply be a proactive move in anticipation of a new frontier with a revised CBA IMHO. Not a mere reaction to his selfishness or a salary dump of another player
I dont think he gets traded because of financial reasons, but not financial reasons related to his contract. More so keeping him for "valuation of the team" financial reasons.
But my gripe is the dude just got a fat extension and he is pulling this shite. He got what he wanted and he is still not happy. The fact that it is a story is the state of affairs in the NBA today. he should just STFU and play ball.

Agree, LeBron saying he should do what's right for his family? Uh, I think a 15 mil per year deal will keep your family fed and happy.
ETA - If NY is offering Gallinari and Randolph in a deal for CP3 and Okafor, I'd be all over it.

Well I don't know what to tell you about that, its called leverage, and pretty much every business employs it to some level or another. Its literally the definition of financing. You give me your money and I combine it with my money and I make more money at a cheaper rate (unless I lose money).

I hear what you're saying, I just don't think he's going to hold out much longer. No one realistically knows their financial situation, they could be losing money hand over fist. I don't think they are, but I think I can confidently say they're not making money hand over fist either.
I'm not sure what to think about the "speaking terms" thing. I don't know your source, but they unilaterally came out and made public statements to refute that like 2 days ago. horseshite? Sure, definitely possible, I'm just saying, I'm not believing much of anything right now, ownership or otherwise. I don't trust politicians, I don't trust random arse reporters with agendas, and I definitely don't trust press releases. I just want something to happen so the fanbase can move on and focus on the team (as supa says), and not the player.

Patrick Ewing "we make alot but we spend alot too"
Latrell having to feed his family (and open more bankrupt rim shops and buy more sex yachts) on 10mm/yr
Antoine Walker blowing through $100mm in less than 6 yrs
I remember the last lockout all the village idiots with their vanity glasses trying to look smart and saying more and more stupid shite. Stern is going to literally kill the Player's Union this time around but it is his own damn fault when the Super friends can happen and Joe Johnson gets 6yr/120mm bucks at 30y/o

I don't know if this has been discussed but the AP reported there's going to be a sitdown on Monday between Paul and the front office.

right, my point was this new loan with the nba probably isn't the end of him.
i believe the article with the exact differences mentioned they were not on speaking terms. of course weber said otherwise but he's been full of shite since this got started in april.

No argument with that, my point was that "financial reasons" in that thread revolved around "Shinn doesn't have any fricking money" not "let's plan around the new CBA." Again, different scenarios.

This is the string I've been hanging on to for several months. I've tried making that point (not to you necessarily, just in general) several times.

Indeed. It is what it is, I guess.

agreed
Shinn's present fortune is derived from owning the team which is partly why paying a luxury tax is killer for the Hornets.

sure
and my thread from a year ago didnt take into account Shinn selling the team because that didnt exist a year ago but Simmons nailed it when he said:
quote:
I can't see any scenario in which Chris Paul is a happy New Orleans Hornet in two years. Which means he'll find a better team. Sorry, N'Awlins. Over.
sad but true

The NBA loan was a pretty big deal. The NBA secured a credit line from a bank at very nearly the height of a liquidity crisis no one alive will ever experience again. Seriously, that was epic shite. Unless the owners decide to go commie (doubtful, I think we can agree), they're not going to subsidize ultra-low loans to their rivals indefinitely. The NBA might forgive or extend that loan for awhile (if he's in serious shite and Chouest is leveraging him, I would expect them to do exactly this), but I seriously doubt they'll provide indefinite financing.

I'm not talking about Weber, I'm talking about this article which quotes each of them individually. FWIW.

Indeed. I haven't read Simmons in like 6 years, but I know he's not a NOLA hater. I distinctly remember him writing pieces about loving the city during Superbowls. I guess he called it.

maybe they're being truthful, i doubt it. why did chouest mysteriously drop from the coaching search? he did one round of interviews and no more?
the TP should call up Ray Wooldridge to do an interview, but that'd probably be too much work.

I just wish we could some resolution on the ownership and Chris Paul

Yeah I'm not holding it out as gospel at all, I'm just throwing it out there.

it's going to overshadow the season.
