I never said it was impossible. I said it was rare. Ariza falls into that exception. Besides, Ariza has shown much more confidence shooting from outside than Evans has up to this point. That confidence plays a huge role in his development from the perimeter. I don't see Evans with that type of confidence beyond the arc.

Not watching. Don't care what he has to say.

Team Karl. Ride or die.

That being said, I'd love for him to be able to punish teams that play off him with a mid range jumper. I don't want him taking it unless he's wide open, every other time he should try and get to the basket.

This, I think. Reke developing the ability to consistently hit the mid range shot would definitely be a positive. Not saying it should be anything near a "go to" weapon, but it would make him that much tougher to defend.

I think the point is that you are creating a decision between shooting the jumper or driving to the hoop. We've seen this year without terrible lineups that the latter is the preferred choice 110% of the time. You live with those results. As someone mentioned, this is much different for someone like AR who isn't as strong and can't finish at the rim as frequently. Also, AR's passes tend to be much weaker back out to the perimeter than Reke's. Reke is so damn special at getting to the rim, why force him to make that choice? Further, why would any coach in their right mind not sag off him and give him that wide open jumper, forcing him into the "smarter" decision of taking the wide open shot? In reality, they've been doing this, and he was phenomenal driving anyways.

ETA: Monty is intimating a problem that quite frankly does not exist. As long as he isn't putting Reke on the floor with deplorable lineups, we never need Reke to shoot that jumper. He will take his man 1 on 1 no matter how they play and weakside defense from guards doesn't make a poop of difference. The problem came when the opposing C AND SF just hung out in the paint waiting for him to get there. Hell, even Ajinca could have made those bigs pay by taking little baby 10-12 footers or using his albatross arms to throw it down. Or Miller/Babbitt could have squatted on the 3 pt line waiting to throw long range bombs.

MONTY made the jumper a necessity. Monty should be scheming to our players strengths. Not fricking make them develop skills, when they are elite at others just so he can throw out random crap lineups whenever he wants.

Somehow, as soon as I saw that Monty was giving a press conference, this song came into my head:

I fail to see how anything I said was laughable other than having to take 3mins to read it.

When you've won it all (like POP), you can get away with that. When you have a .410% winning record in the NBA, you look like a jackass.
