I watched most of the game yesterday and the announcers were amazed at how good he was. They believe they got a steal in the trade. They were even discussing the possibility of him playing point guard when tyreke returns.

from everything I have gathered in reading NBA writers, most people feel this way.

Except the Hornetards on here....not mentioning names of course

I just googled trade deadline grades and winners and losers and took a quick look at the national level sites other than bleacher report. No one thinks the Hornets got robbed from what I saw.

NBC: LINK

New Orleans Hornets (Out: Marcus Thornton. In: Carl Landry.) The Hornets were looking for depth along the front line, they got it with a professional and hard working player. Good pick up. Grade: B+

Sacramento Kings (Out: Carl Landry. In: Marcus Thornton, Marquis Daniels.) Landry is the kind of solid professional that fits better on a playoff team than the rebuilding Kings. Thornton showed a lot of promise as a rookie, but the return of Chris Paul and a change of role threw him off. We’ll see how he adjusts to playing with Tyreke Evans (when he returns) but it’s not a bad risk for the Kings. Daniels is not expected to play the rest of this season, that was a money thing. Grade: B

NBA Trades: Hornets, Kings Both Earn 'C' Grade In Carl Landry Deal

FoxSports: LINK

Winner: New Orleans Hornets
The Hornets lost an extraneous shooting guard in Marcus Thornton and got a versatile frontcourt player they badly need in Carl Landry from the Kings. Shrewd moves like this might convince Chris Paul (pictured) to stay in New Orleans.

Looks like no one really knew how good MT5 is, except for LSU fans. Kinda proves how lame it is that so many people put so much into what the so called "experts" are saying.

Bottom line: MT5 can flat out ball. You throw him out there and let him play, and the dude will score, rebound and provide an overall spark. But he has to get consistent minutes. Those of us who watched it at LSU and then saw it translate in the NBA knew this. Why couldn't coaches, GM's, media experts, etc all see this? Baffling really.

My biggest problem with the trade is we no longer have a spark guy. Who cam come in and provide the energy now? I'm really hoping the hornets can turn this shite around, but the pressure is really on monty because he's the one who let is egoget in way and trade A fane favoritte. He wants to sink or swim with guys they brought in....hope they fix the leaks.

Jarret Jack has been playing pretty well lately. We'd have won the last two games if our starters had gotten their shite together.

Worse thing for the team imo. I have seen nothing that leads me to believe Jack can be a consistent source for meaningful offensive production.

Why? It's not like he's playing Jack instead of someone else more deserving of minutes now that Thornton has been traded.

He's playing Jack at the 2 instead of Green and Belly quite a bit. I'd prefer the latter two guys getting the minutes at the 2 guard. No problem with Jack backing up CP at point, since he's our only option, but I'm not a fan of playing both CP and JJ at the same time.

You've got to be kidding me

The trade is 4 games old for Christ sake

It's not like we are losing because we lost Marcus.

And who cares who's the spark off the bench as long as it's someone. Jack is playing well.

MT5 earned the starting job last year and he scored to many points so they returned him to his original backup role, 15min a game

Eh to me the trade seemed more personal than it was a move to better this team

Both Monty and Marcus said it was nothing personal. Whether you believe them or not is up to you. But I think it was a matter of contractual issues and how we most likely weren't going to resign him.

I was as big a Thornton booster as the next guy, but even I'll say it was the right trade to make. We needed a tough big in the middle off the bench. Gray, though nobody beats him, Smith, and Andersen were NOT tough. Pretty soft actually. This also pretty much phases DJ Mbenga out the picture entirely.

Another plus.
