If all you can do is attack me and make appeals to uncertainty as a way to dismiss my concerns, it right there exposes how weak the defense of this move seems to be. As it doesn’t actually make a case for this move and just applies dismissive logic rooted in the basic unpredictability that you could apply to anything in the NBA.

I'm on your side on this but I think his argument was pretty fair. You are putting forth a very narrowly focused argument that heavily relies upon potential outcomes that have too low of a probability of actually occurring to assign as much confidence as you have to them.

In other words, I have almost the exact same concerns as you do for the very reasons you've laid out, but I think even the known variables are far too unpredictable to reach a conclusion with any level of meaningful certainty.

Why Hayes is a better prospect than Hunter, Garland, or Culver, or a better fit.

He’s not a better prospect. You don’t get that if you trade down.

But are we a better team with Hayes, Alexander-Walker and whoever we can get with that Solo money than with just Garland, Culver or Hunter?

Could be yes.

Garland was overhyped. He'll be a solid player but he will not be an elite player that controls games and one builds a team around. His size alone will hold him back.

The biggest need I saw was the need to get an athletic, rim-protecting big. The Pels got that, a good shooting guard and picks for the price of Garland, one guy and a 6'2" guard to boot. It was the right move for this team.

What’s my point? Both those players are 70% FT shooters NOW. McGee was a garbage FT shooter at Nevada, and is one in the pros.

Your comparison to McGee is absurd and without any merit.

He's ok running the floor.

In a half court situation there are 5,000 8th graders in catholic youth leagues with better moves.

Hey morons in this thread! Ya’ll feel stupid yet??? Lol.

Hayes was a fantastic pic. He will be a stud center. He projects to be a good shooter, ya’ll dont know diddly squat about basketball.

The other thing to consider is that the Pels just didn't like the fit with Garland. Griff has a vision, and it doesn't include a ball-dominant PG whose strength is Iso plays. He wants a pass-first PG who distributes the ball, runs and defends. Hayes fits into that model as as a rim-running big. So does Zion. Garland is a smallish shooter not known (to date) as a defender, does not. In general, I think people are too freaked out by our shooting. We were a top offensive team last year with very average 3 point shooting. More than one way to score even using modern analytics approach.

And he would block all of their shots and dunk on them because you can’t teach 7 feet

Saying Garland is ball dominant exposes you as not knowing what the frick you are talking about. One of the consensus positives about him is his ability to play off ball and use screens exceptionally well.

Garland also has the same wingspan as Coby White.

I mean if this game is entiriely about defending lord Griffin because you can’t think for yourself about the NBA, fine, but let’s not make shite up to do it.

Cap space is worth more than an expiring. That’s just a fact. We are an under the cap team, and can absorb a traded player over having to send back dead salary. Or more likely we sign a FA. Players like Hill are dumped with a first every year. The Nets trading Crabbe being the most notable this season

Who are you desperately giving away an expiring for?

Conversations evolve and shift, is this news to you? The core of the thread is about Hayes and his projected future, which is what 90% of the thread became about.

What are you an aspie off his meds?
