Javale could've been great but he's retarded. Hayes does not appear to be retarded so that would be really good.

We’ll see. But I’m a Texas alum and I watched him all year. His movement on the court and play style screams JaVale

Ya not a great pick

We drafted a guy who took 5 shots all game and 3 jump shots all season at #8 overall

Gave up garland for this crap.

Lol

You’re not fooling anyone—Texas alumni don’t watch their basketball team.

I guarantee you no one in this thread shitting on you has ever watched a full game of his, or more importantly, tried to evaluate him.

I think this too cute trade back and pick is Griffin's first major misstep as GM and it's spoiling an otherwise historic night.

The guy has never demonstrated himself to be a good drafter and tonight is reinforcing that for me. But it is the honeymmon period and Griffin is getting the cult of personality treatment. So good luck.

I will eat crow gladly if I’m wrong, but this will be one of those trades the whole league looks back on and laughs. Garland will be a fricking stud and we gave him away for a project.

I understand the BPA mentality, but we’re in a situation where everything was settled except for big men. Griff went out, got a top big man to run with Zion. I like it

McGee with a brain and IQ is an all star. What a silly comparison with no context.

I'm right with you.

It doesn't even take 30 minutes to see Atlanta likely got the better end of this deal.

While I am not super high on either, they traded Hayes and a crapshoot at 17 for DeAndre Hunter and Cameron Reddish. The former has probably the highest floor after the top 3, and Reddish at least has very high upside.

I'm seriously pissed off about everything past Zion tonight.

I feel like this was a classic NBA pick where potential blinds you from the glaring deficiencies.

I don’t feel good about it. But he’s here now, I’m rooting for him to become a player. Hopefully he works out.

I’m with ya. Hayes is another athletic 7 footer with no offensive skills that get picked in the lottery and bust.

Yep. Griff really fricked this up. I’m shocked we didn’t take Garland. Even if we want to keep Lonzo and Jrue, let Garland be our sixth man guard just like CJ was initially for Portland. Darius could have played alongside Lonzo or Jrue in the backcourt for stretches and it would have worked.
