Let’s look at how Phoenix’s pieces were viewed coming into the season

CP3 - Fertita had recently called his the worst contract in the NBA
Devin Booker - Promising young star, but not a superstar
Ayton - old school big that doesn’t REALLY have what it takes to be a superstar
Bridges - who?
Payne - who?
Cam Johnson - massive reach in the draft who could only shoot
Obviously this is the exception and not the rule, and I’m not saying the Pels are going to the Finals. But sometimes, basketball sense and fit just works out above marquee names. As others have said in other threads, this team does make more basketball sense than last year’s team. We all hope Griff isn’t done, but things aren’t all doom and gloom

Can’t give you this. Book was a superstar before this year

Except I’ve been singing bridges and cam Johnson’s praises since 2019 watching them in the bubble.
The Pels have made a lot of good pickups in this vein.

You would have put him in the LeBron, KD, Harden, Curry, etc stratosphere? Those are superstars in my book. Booker was a tier below

You talking about the Suns that went 8-0 in the bubble and added a generational PG?

Hard to call someone a superstar whose teams were that dismal.
Great player, looked like he was capable of making the jump, but the Suns had been shite prior to the bubble.

He had yet to make an all star team in 5 years.

I think “8-0” means a lot more knowing that they later made the Finals. That same team was far enough back in the standings that even going 8-0 wasn’t able to get them in the play-in game
