You don't need a great PG to win a championship.

And what do you propose we do to get this massive upgrade at PG? CP3 isn't coming back. Jennings would be an upgrade, but not a big enough one to forego spending the ~$10m on SF/backups.

This as soon as our fan base will realize this.

Nothing against Vasquez.

This is all i've been saying Vasquez is a Backup PG.

past 10 points guards on championship teams

Chalmers, Kidd, Billups, Derrick Fisher, Tony Parker, Rondo. To say you need an elite PG is ludicrous. The is 3rd in the NBA averaging 9.4 assists per game. You don't need a point guard to drop 20 points a game. You need a guy that can distribute the ball to the other guys.

Great point guards don't win championships. You should be worried about developing AD and a wing.

For the you don't need a great point guard crowd, that statement is bullshite. You need multiple great players, or a great player mixed with really good players to win. If that great player is a point guard, then so be it. If an opportunity comes up to make a major upgrade at point guard you take it. Everything else can work itself out later.

is what the OP said.

nobody denies this point. it has nothing to do with what was being said here.

how is it bullshite? you don't. a great one doesn't hurt. but obviously you don't need one.

Maybe, we can try to acquire one of the five pgs that the kings have now after their trade with houston.

did you actually read this thread? your argument is completely off base with what is actually being said in here.

Vasquez is far from our biggest problem on this team. he is serviceable enough to where we can focus on other positions of need first. if an upgrade becomes available that we can't pass up we take it of course. the op is talking like kyrie's are available down aisle 5 at wal-mart

So from someone who watched every game. How bad are we and why did CP3 take us to the playoffs by himself?

Since y'all know so much

Because you can say that about any position that's why.

We don't need to go all out to find some elite point guard. That would be foolish.

I read every word of the thread. I'm talking to the great point guards don't win championships crowd.

It would be foolish to not look into all avenues to improve the team. If it is point guard then so be it.

This thread has gotten out of control. The point was that Vasquez is the an elite PG that will take us far. This Board was ready to anoint him the true PG for our team

so what is your solution? go kidnap cp3 and force him to come back? somehow get the cavs to go full retard and give us kyrie? what is the avenue of approach to get us this elite point guard so we can send Vasquez to the bench while still addressing other positions that we are currently in much more need of an upgrade?

He's averaging nearly 14/10. Point guard isn't what we need to be worrying about yet.
