Is this season a blessing in disguise?

Maybe I'm just trying to cope, but it's not all bad imo.
1. This is going to get Willie fired. There is no surviving this. Sometimes hands need to be forced.
2. Griff may be fired. This is playing out so similarly to Allen and Loomis. I have a feeling Griff somehow survives this. I'm not totally against it like I am with Loomis. I feel Griff is a lot more capable at this point than Loomis but I would be fine with a total teardown also.
3. The BI/Zion experiement is finally over. It never was going to work. Lots of blame to pass along. It's time to move on from one or both. BI is a lock to go. Zion, against my better judgment, I give one more year to show us something UNLESS, we get an offer we can't refuse. The blessing in disguise is we did not give BI a contract, which I believe would be disastrous.
4. Trey is proving that he's worth what we paid and the extra minutes are exactly what he needed and he can be a key piece on a contender.
5. The timeline is now reset so we will be more likely to deal CJ and I think will be able to do so without giving up assets. I hated his extension at the time and was scared we'd be paying to dump him. He's still a good offensive player but I think a net neutral or negative player overall because of how poor his D is - and it's only going to get worse.
6. Perhaps the biggest reason for optimism is the draft. We have an opportunity to come into next season with a core of Murray, Herb, Trey, Zion, Missi and a top 5 pick in a very good draft, plus any additional assets we can pick up for BI. Not bad at all. With a new coach, that's a team that can compete and IF, huge IF, Zion is changed and Missi develops and the rookie hits, we could be a legit contender in a year or two.
The above imo is a better longerm year than what happened last year. I could give two fricks about a a good regular season only to see Zion hurt and BI/CJ suck arse while we get swept again,

It would be if there was literally any chance they respond the right way.
But there isnt.
So in the same way that a severe illness that sends you to the hospital, where they additionally find cancer and save you is a blessing in disguise....
We have a severe illness, went to the hospital and the doctors are like "you are very sick, also you have cancer, and you will die from that too"

Agree with most of your points, but can't with this:
Dude has earned and deserves the right to go to a contender. With the right team, you can hide his defensive deficiencies. Furrthermore, he could be a stud 6th man, even at this point

I understand we're in a bad spot, but honestly, this should not fall on Griff. On paper, he has put together a pretty damn nice front with BI, Zion, Herb, Trey, CJ and DM. Hell, even Missi. He can't predict Zion being a fatty, and everyone just continuously hurt. He CAN help the coaching. We even have some decent assets. Just sucks were in this spot. Blow it up, snag Flagg then ball.

quote:You're kidding right? He has completely messed up the AD return, starting initially by passing on Garland for NAW and Hayes. He has blow draft capital trying to get dinosaur 5s that would have been great in the 70s or 80s and then capital to get rid of them. He has had some positive moments, but overall, I think he has made as many mistakes as hits.

Rushing the rebuild was his biggest sin and doing it while wasting away asset after asset for very little gain made it hard to accept then and now in hindsight, knowing how many bad moves, signings, and poor decisions over the course of the 6 seasons he's been here, he completely botched this era when he was handed an amazing hand.
