re: Ingram has literally been our worst player this season, Zion also has not been good

I disagree with you here. He played substantially different last night. I mean heck even AD and Joel were saying this on the broadcast. He took shots but hardly dribbled to take those shots. He was actively looking to get others involved. He had steals, rebounds and even got into a defensive stance. This was the playmaking, leader BI we saw in the suns series. It was by far his best most impactful game.

I was at the game a-hole. And Ingram played like he's played all year. He played with more effort, like everyone else did and the team played much better, but you make this moronic leap that he suddenly changed how he played, because you can't blame him for a loss since we won. Tell me how was his game "different" last night?

No, you really aren't. He played better and with more effort, because everyone played better and with more effort and that shite is contagious. You guys hammered him mercilessly after the T-Wolves game, you particularly, saying he got no one involved even though he had 6 assists (with three blown layups) and didn't see the court in the 4th quarter. But we got blown out (understandable since Zion, CJ, Trey, Jose, Naji and Herb all didn't play), so he didn't try at all and it was just midrange, dribble, dribble, dribble, blah, blah, blah. Forget it was a completely impossible spot, lets hammer him relentlessly. Fast forward, EVERYONE plays well, and, wow, BI changed the way he played. Such a convenient, lazy take.

I told you exactly why he played better. AD and Joel even said he did. Everybody who’s a pelicans media member or a fan says he did. If you think he didnt play iso ball and shared the basketball, active on defense and rebounding - what are you watching? He got hammered because he played iso ball, didn’t rebound, or even try to play defense. Thats not effort its playing differently. He played within Borrego’s system- not iso ball. That’s DIFFERENT.

You keep saying he didn't share the basketball; how do you have what should have been 9 assists in 30 minutes without sharing the basketball? I'm confused at this. We won handily last night and everyone payed much better, so BI just magically changed how he played? I didn't hear the broadcast, so I don't know what AD or Joel said, but its a bit easier to move and share the ball when everyone around you is playing better and with more effort. The majority of his shots were still midrange, the majority of his misses were still the threes he took and the contested midranges he took when the shot clock was expiring. How he played wasn't much different, the results were much different.

Honestly, I get to a degree where you’re coming from. If you can watch the broadcasts AD does a great job in pointing out how BI played different. Yes guys cut more but the assists came quickly in the shot clock. He wasn’t overdribbling and wasting the shot clock which is a huge issue. His style on how he scores will stay the same but the type of shots he takes (he took open 3s and midrangers where he had clear advantage/open shot), how much he dribbles, when he gives passes(not when the clock is at 3 seconds) that makes a huge difference. Again, this is not just me its every analytical fan or media member who watches the pelicans will say this.

I'm going to try when I have time to watch the broadcast, but, again, EVERYONE played better last night and it looked good. It's a lot easier to get the ball to people when (1) you actually have a legit NBA quality team playing along side you (something that hasn't always been the case this year); and (2) people are active and cutting and moving without the ball. I still didn't see him play much differently, but I did see the results be much better. and people then naturally overreact and leap to conclusions that something had to drastically change. I'm sure the game thread was full of lets dump Willie and let Borrego coach. We just had a bunch of people play really well last night, and that looked different.

You’re not wrong on that with the other players but to me playing with effort and in the system is part of playing different and that to me was the major difference in Ingram last night.

I don't want to bog this down (and I enjoy the actual debating of different viewpoints-appreciate that), but I just don't know how we can really talk about how effective we have been running our system when, for the most part, half the team (and at times more) hasn't been on the court. Again back to the T-Wolves game how are we going to be able to run our system when we put out on the court what we did. And then I read all this about Ingram being so awful because of his +/- numbers. Its been ridiculous. It just has.

Yeah but thats the shite you take when you’re one of the best guys and a leader of the team. I get to a sense with the injuries but any NBA star would get the same criticism- it comes with the territory especially when you get paid the big bucks. You are expected to be competitive even with shite role players at times. Look he deserves his flowers from last night but he deserves criticism in the 5 game losing streak as well. Part of being a NBA star.
