Doubt it.
If Ingram plays the last 2 minutes like he did tonight we win the game easily.

Ingram was a closer tonight, not Morant. Mitchell was the closer in the first game, not Ingram. Nba games almost always come down to who has the better closer.

Zion scored back to back buckets, including bailing us out after Ingram overdribbled at the end of the shot clock, to give us the advantage when he returned at the end of the fourth. Zion closed as much as Ingram. I'm not convinced we win last night without Zion coming back in. No doubt in my mind we close that game with Zion in against the Jazz.

Yeah he did, with 2-3 minutes left and put us up 9. Then Morant got them back to within 6 with 1:40 left and Ingram hit a huge three, then came down and hit a jumper to seal the game. That's how you close, and you better get used to Ingram having the ball in his hands to close games out b/c that's what's going to happen. It will be up to Ingram if he takes the shot or Zion does, and i trust Ingrams decisions, and i have no problem with him taking the shot.

I like how you call it Ingram overdribbling, like he did something bad. He drove to the lane and literally 3 guys collapsed on him. He made the right decision finding the cutting Zion for an easy bucket.

Ingram missed 3 good looks from 3 late in the Jazz game, under 4 minutes left, and a short jumper. Lonzo took 2, which were both off zero passes and were stupid arse shots. If Ingram just makes one of those, we win that game most likely. I don't doubt that having Zion would have helped, but even without him, we had every chance to win that game on our own, we just didn't.

Ingram has not been an above average closer all season. I think that is evident by our record in close games which was discussed during the broadcast last night.

Of course Ingram will be the one with ball in his hands at the end. Having Zion on the court just makes it much easier for Ingram. Zion just attracts so much attention and he is by far our best finisher. If the whole defense wasn’t able to focus on Ingram and had to account for Zion, Ingram probably would have made one of those three shots at the end against the Jazz.

I would agree somewhat, but this is his first year in that role. I'm confident he will get better. Playing with Lebron for a year almost restarted his career back to being a rookie.

I'd also add that our idiot coach for most of the beginning of the year did not put the ball in Ingrams hands to close games out. That was Jrue not closing games out more often than not, which is something Jrue has never really been that good at. Jrue has games where he's unstoppable and wins us the game, then the next game he forgets how to dribble.

Rudy Gobert couldn’t keep up with Zion. Once we pulled Zion, Gobert became a factor down the stretch. Favors is decent but not against Gobert.

Gobert would have been in foul trouble if Zion played more than 15 minutes.

When games get tight Zion can get you shots at the rim when you need a bucket , which this team desperately needs in close games , he def was the difference down the stretch last night

The missing piece has always been a strong finisher On the backdoor. Ingram and Holiday can drive to the basket all they want but it’s going to be a low quality shot as long as you have Favors and Melli in the game, they aren’t options you’d want to have on the baseline. Zion on the other hand will make you pay dearly for collapsing and clogging the paint on the dribble penetration. If teams start to stay home on the dribble penetration, it’s layup or dunk for Holiday and Ingram.

I agree Supe. Zion isn't spreading the floor by standing in teh corner, but once Ingram drives and people collapse, he comes sneaking in and as we have found out, when he's got a little head of steam and space near the basket, he's going to get finish and/or get fouled.

Uncle Alroy has got to use his god damn brain and get Favors off the court on offense for end of game situations. He provides nothing at all in those scenarios. Even if he sets a great pick, he is zero threat off the pick. His man can do whatever he wants on defense, even when he's in the pick. Hell he can double the ball off the screen and have zero fear Favors would do anything with it if given the ball.
Ingram/Zion/Jrue/Redick/Hart or Melli/Lonzo (If they are feeling it from 3 that game) should be the offensive lineup for end of game situations.

Zion and/or KD-mode Ingram gives us a shot at the end of most games. Both can take over a game in their own way.
