Maybe because that isn't true.

As I posted in the game thread, the combined +/- numbers for Jonas and Larry since January 1st are:

Jonas: +100
Larry: +105
Going back that far factors in a time when Nance was playing much better than he's playing now.

If you go back 15 games, Nance is +1.7 and Val +3.9. If you do the previous 20 or so games from there up to January, it's basically flip flopped.

Point being, Nance over the last month or so isn't the same guy from previous months, and that's the issue. When Nance came back from injury he was 9ppg for the 1st 15 games. After that, he's at 5ppg over the last 25. Just not the same dude, based on stats and eye test.

He's just a better fit for Zion than JV is
Zion/Nance 2 man line up have a -1.1 Net Rating.

Zion/Val 2 man lineups have a +5.7 Net Rating.

the improved rebounding from Zion and Trey is helping cover for Larry's weakness on the boards

How many offensive rebounds did OKC have in the last 3 minutes? Do you just have no memory of being up 5 and allowing three straight offensive rebounds? I firmly believe that JV being in to close OKC beats OKC.

Last night was just a more glaring example. We subbed out JV in the 3rd and put nance on Giannis, who then scored 20 straight points. This isn’t rocket science
