Messy brand... just like "krewe" which you are in support of.
I like it.
I do not think it is realistically a top 2 candidate.
The topic what do you think it will be, not what you like. I like lots of possibilities that are just not realistic. New Orleans Rising. New Orleans Desire. New Orleans Troubadours. Krewe of New Orleans.
They all have major issues, none of which include my, or any other fan's, opinion of them other than them not being offensive.

Krewe is WAY more New Orleans than Cardinals.

First off, i never said it was or wasn't more or less new orleansy... but the most new orleansy name doesn't mean best name. Krewe is an unidentifiable term that is just weird nationally and presents zero branding imo.

Krewe is messy, and is like Crew, as in Columbus' MLS team. It'll look like we can't spell, yada yada yada. This happens in some business stuff (e.g. drive thru for the thing you drive next to) and for some branding, but does this really happen for sports teams at the top level?
There are messier brands, for sure. But why deal with that when Pelicans is sitting there, bought and paid for years ago?

By far the worst justification that could be used. Sure, you save money by not having to buy a name, but you lose money because nobody is going to want your merchandise.

is this the game where "because jester doesn't like it, nobody likes it"?
ETA: It'd be fricking awesome to have daily dedicated fan always dressed up like this in the arena!

If that's how you need to think of it. You're the moron that thinks that Cardinals is somehow relevant to New Orleans.

There's been plenty of posters that have raved about a few pelican designs but jester speaks the truth of nobody would buy it yet chad504boy gets called the moron. Look buddy, you need to find a bigger bat to start swinging at me cause this chicken shite won't cut it.

Altar Boys
Priests
Parishioners
Popes
Bishops
Nuns
Sisters
Pontiffs
Bibles
Cathedrals
Genocides
All things associated with Catholicism, some of which have actually happened IN New Orleans, unlike a Cardinal.

This happens a lot, and it usually has nothing to do with the rebrand.

The Hornets do not just belong to NO, they belong to the state and the region. If that is all they want to appeal to, then good luck with that. The state is less than 30% Catholic and even less in neighboring states. It's a dumb re-brand and offensive to many people.

I could come up with way worse, and it's not THE justification, it's just one point among many. Are we talking here or debating?
C'mon man.

you keep saying that like you have some sort of Rebranding manual 101 in front of you. Catholic city, a catholic name idea. You are reading way too far into all these other catholic name ideas. I didn't know bibles were invented in new orleans either...

And yet again, you keep missing the point. It's like trying to teach algebra to a waterhead.

No there is no point that cardinals didn't happen in new orleans. it's a highly associated name with a highly associated religion of a city. Thats not a fricking point that 100% negates a naming concept/idea.
Countering your point that doesn't make a whole point is not missing the point.

I'm just discussing. None of us have any input in the process, anyway. Except for Chad. Tom Benson values Chad's input.

To be fair, saint has a colloquial meaning in addition to the specific Catholic meaning.
This Saints came from the song, which has a distinctly Protestant basis. The Saints in the song are the saved in the populist, Protestant sense, not just a subset of the Beatified in the Catholic sense.
