Excerpt from LINK . Haven't seen this mentioned but was a HUGE need for last years team.

Prolific in the clutch

Murray is one of eight players who have scored at least 100 clutch points in each of the last two seasons.

This past season, he was tied for second with eight buckets (on 16 attempts) to tie or take the lead in the final minute of the fourth quarter or overtime. He was just 1-for-4 on those shots in 2022-23.

But he shot better in the clutch from 2-point range, 3-point range and the free-throw line ’22-23 than he did in ’23-24.

This is huge but I am more concerned with the head coach in the clutch moments than the talent of individual players.

What concerns are left with Willie in the clutch? Griffin has taken away all of the things we dislike about Willie and is trying to put together a more cohesive roster around Z. With a guy like Murray in the clutch, we should be a lot better as CJ won't be asked to play the point and Z has a PG who handle ball pressure from the opposing team and punish defenses who gamble with the blitzing.

Doesn't matter. WG gonna run a CJ iso for a heavily contested final shot

We were in the unfortunate situation of not having a primary ball handler for clutch situations last season. You can handle many possessions during a game without having an A level ball handler, but when it comes to clutch time, you need someone with a great handle. This has plagued us since Jrue and Tyreke were our main ball handlers. We had a slight reprieve with Rondo, but he had his own issues. Having a legit primary ball handler is going to make things so much easier for us down the stretch. Not to mention having a guy who can take over and execute in clutch situations.

Basically it’ll be Dejounte trying to make the right play over Willie trying to draw up a play. Thats essentially what it comes down to. By putting the ball in Dejounte’s hands you take Willie out of the equation. The real question though is when will Willie get better with playcalls and clutch situations?
