Horford has never been to impressive of a rebounder

When it comes to guys like Horford, I think a lot of people confuse lower rebounding numbers with not being great at rebounding. Selfless guys like Horford are great at boxing out and letting teammates get the board. That’s not the same as being a poor rebounder.

As this is true, I wouldnt consider Horford an impressive rebounder regardless. But he also hovers around the perimeter a decent bit on offense now, and guards perimeter players at points which keeps his rebounding numbers lower. He has had some good years of rebounding. But Hayes just needs a better understanding of where to be in rebounding situations whether the coaching staff sees him being better at boxing out or getting in for the rebound himself. But theres no reason with some added weight, coaching, and his length that he cant be a good rebounder.

Saw this happen with Dirk. He was a pretty good defensive rebounder, but his overall rebounding numbers were always lower than most big men because he wasn’t getting the extra 1 or 2 offensive boards playing away from the basket.

If NBA ready you mean 8-10 minutes of hustle, yes, but he has no offensive game and needs to get MUCH stronger even in todays NBA.

Dirk could always shoot.

Like what i saw though.

Before the draft Seth Greenberg said Hayes could be the steal of the draft.
His upside is off the charts.

They said that because he went for blocks too often and got out of position for the board.

Right. I was talking about why his rebounding numbers were lower than other big men and pointing out the similarities to what the other guy said about Horford.
