re: Gordon S&T options...

If the Rockets are legitimately wanting to do some kind of trade like that, Hornets should jump all over it. Lithuanian kid should be in the trade for sure. Martin will probably be involved. After that, I would have a hard time choosing between Jones and Lamb, but I think I would go with Jones. Young frontline of Motie, Davis, and Jones could be dominant.

3) Gordon for Rudy Gay: a major issue that the Grizz had last season (besides ZBo being injured) was that they didn't really have a go to guy. As good as Gay is, he's more of a perfect #2 option than someone you want taking over the game in crunch time. Gordon is exactly that guy. This trade would save the Grizzlies about $3m in each of the next 3 years. The issues that stop the trade: -Tony Allen is already a solid player at the 2, though this would allow them to trade him for an adequate 3 -Memphis's next 3 is QPon.
As for the Hornets, it gives them a very good, albeit probably overpaid player. He can still improve, but even if he doesn't, he gives us similar offensive production to Gordon with a bit of a drop off on defense. The biggest thing, though, is that Gay only has one of his six seasons where he missed significant time, and it was just for a shoulder, not a knee or anything.
No, no, no. Way too much money to tie up in a non-star, non-leader.

4) Gordon for Danny Granger:
I would want Paul George and a pick

Since we are just throwing out ideas. How about..
Gordon and Landry (S&T) for David Lee and Dorell Wright?
We get a big man to put next to Davis and a decent SF in Wright (who may be looking to bust out one day soon). Lee can play Center or PF, which allows Davis to swap back and forth as well. Plus Lee can score and is a proven player.
Gordon gives GS alot of options in the backcourt and they want a "name" player to put next to Curry. Thompson can swing from SG to SF along with Barnes. Landry fills a need in the frontcourt, but the S&T saves GS it's exceptions to use if needed.
Win win...

Absolutely. George does everything better than Granger except score. He plays better D, rebounds, better assist numbers.
Plus he's younger (7 years) and is a lot longer (which Monty loves length.)

GSW just drafted Barnes to be their starting SF.
They DO NOT WANT Thompson guarding NBA SF's.

Wright busted out two years ago and then quickly went back to where he belongs, a rotation player.

It did say fantasy trades.. right?
I think that is their hope, but Barnes and/or Thompson would be great off the bench and both are somewhat unproven. It gives GS alot of options, plus neither is a pure SG. Curry and Gordon could be a great back court, ala Curry and Ellis, without all the drama that came with that.
It would be a significant upgrade over what the Hornets currently have and I think Wright's MPG plunge helps explain why he was less effective. The coaching change in GS hurt alot of guys numbers. But he is only under contract for one more year, so if isn't great, no big loss.

Yea, if we could get Memphis to throw in a 1st, I'd take that.

This board's opinion of Gordon is getting out of hand.
No, it's just that Gay is extremely overrated AND we'd be taking on a horrible contract.
Gordon is easily as good as Gay.

Yeah, it's not like he's a finalist for the Olympic team or anything...

Even if we do match and keep him hes gonna be out for the season with a case of raw cock if you dont get off of it

Well let's hope you get over your case of hurt butt pretty soon.
Posted on 7/7/12 at 12:47 pm to tehchampion140
im not butthurt at all. We all get you want to keep him. Cant deny he's talented and all but I'm not trying to stick up for someone who seems to resent our franchise so much. Its been said before, he might have some skills but he damn sure aint no Kobe or Lebron!
Posted on 7/7/12 at 12:50 pm to PortCityTiger82
He doesn't resent our franchise, he just feels disrespected since we basically told him he wasn't worth a max deal and haven't kept in contact with him. If he got traded to the Suns last season and then we did what they did 3 days ago, he'd be dying to play for the Hornets and get away from the Suns. Dell and Monty need to still assure him that he's OUR cornerstone, not the Suns'.
Posted on 7/7/12 at 12:57 pm to tehchampion140
You can believe that if you want but I think its just a ploy to stir up everyones emotions and get himself out of here. Monty and Demps have been saying we are gonna build this team around him. Whats so hard for him to understand. The way his deal is being handled is the norm for the NBA.
Posted on 7/7/12 at 1:17 pm to tehchampion140
We will know soon whats really going on. If in fact he is really just insecure and feels like we're not interested then everthing will be fine after having a sit down with monty and demps. He will sign and put on a happy face and say all the right things. If he still acts like this after they talk with him then we'll know hes just trying to push his way out any way he can.
