Fridays trade has put the Pels in great shape

The acquisition of Murray without including BI puts the Pels in great shape for the next trade. Who do they go after? There are several possibilities, and the Pelicans are not forced to make a bad trade. They may even be able to turn BI into two players coming in. Would you trade BI straight up for Auyton? Would you trade him straight up for Allen? I think the answer is no for both trades. I really like Kessler from Utah. He can run too. On the low end Robert Williams is a player if he can stay healthy. Philly has nothing we want. The player I would like to get is Okongwu from the Hawks and watch out for the Pels. Nothing is more fun than watching live NBA basketball with a bad arse running athletic center with the players that the Pels have right now. With Okonqwu the Pels will be the talk of the league before the season starts.

Philly is about to sign PG13. They are no longer a trade destination for BI.

I’m curious if a BI for Jarrett Allen trade is in the works. Not straight up obviously but as the main pieces. It makes sense for both clubs as they have Mobley, too. Thoughts?

Trading BI for Jarrett Allen and Max Strus makes sense to me if it were to happen. BI to Utah for Kessler and maybe Collins would make sense too.

Allen for BI works for me, but Griffin I think will negotiate wanting more.

Other pieces have to come just to make the money work.
Allen only makes $20m and Ingram makes about $36m so another $15-18 needs to come.
Strus, Caris LeVert, and Isaac Okoro (sign and trade) are the pieces closest to that number by themselves.

It just feels like the move to me is more for a ready now player that gives us that defensive big and rim protector. Kessler is still raw (and more limited offensively) and I think griffin is in much more win now mode than someone like Kessler and picks. I like the idea of that trade as the other main possibility though.

Max Straus, or Collins would work. Maybe picks too. I'll mention something else. CJ may be on the move.

You're right Teke. I think the Pels will need to negotiate with BI first ,and settle on a number if BI will. BI will be hard to trade without a new agreement in place.

Man, give me Kessler in a three way trade with other pieces that can sure up the bench. Kessler is a solid Center to grow with this team along with Missi. Sign a veteran big to help coach them up and give some solid minutes when Kessler comes off the court.

I don't want Andre. Dude takes plays off and is soft as charmin.

Irrelevant because he signed with Philly.

This is the key for me. I think Griff needs to be willing to re-sign JV and run it back with the same group + Murray - Dyson and Nance, Jr. That is a better team than last year, even if it may not championship caliber. You explore all trades for BI, obviously, but have to be willing to run it back in order to stay in the position of strength we currently have as long as the league isn't convinced we 100% determined to trade BI no matter what. You can run this team to the trade deadline and see how they fit. There are rotation options that can give us some versatility and the right 2nd team wouldn't sacrifice much scoring. If a team has an injury and desperately needs a guy who can score, maybe BI becomes more valuable.
But that's what concerns me about BI--what is his perceived value around the league? We want him gone because he's not a perfect fit with Zion, but he also doesn't play D, can score, but is inefficient in today's NBA shooting long range jumpers inside the arc rather than being more of a high volume 3-point shooter. He'll score 25, but may do it on an 8-24 night. We see all the flaws in his game, why do we assume the rest of the lease doesn't? I worry 1) teams may not value him as highly as we think they do, and 2) that they think can get him on the cheap because we are so loudly wanting to trade him before the season.
I just think we're in a really good position after making the Murray trade before moving BI. And can/need to afford to wait to see who winds up with Paul George as that will theoretically increase BI's value. I just think patience could be a good Griff virtue right now. Not wait to engage in talks and pass on a good deal if one presents itself. But the Murray trade gives him the advantage of not having to "settle" for something subpar. Maybe leak some offers that he turned down because we weren't getting good enough value in return and make it clear that we are prepared to run it back with BI.
He wants to get paid, maybe he's feeling the pressure of the possibility he's not gonna get what he wants and he's in the gym just getting up a few hundred 3s every day. Maybe he comes back and has added that to his game, which will be more efficient and unclog the paint some for Zion. It either works well and we can get more for him at the deadline or it works REALLY well and we do wind up being a championship caliber team and wind up wanting to rei-sign him. I just don't want to negotiate from what should be a position of strength now only to wind up with some role players and a couple of 1sts that wind up being late round. We don't HAVE to move him.

I agree with Hot Carl. The Pels don't have to trade BI if it's not exactly the trade that Griffin wants. They could run it back, but JV just signed with the Wizards. If the Pels do find the center they want, and execute a fair trade they will pull the trigger this year. I don't remember a year that has so many options to trade for a good center. The Kings rumor must include a third team. There's no way the Pels are interested in Hunter, and Barnes. Both of those players are on their way out the league. It's got to be Murray, or Sabonis in a three team trade. Again, the Pels could run it back, but I don't think so.

Dont think Cj is on the move. I think he matters to much for the team as THE VETERAN LEADER. Hes also valuable beacause he does a lot more for us when asked to. He is meant to be a shooting guard though not a pg. And now with Murray, he can revert back to playing off ball a lot more. But still give you some playmaking. Hes also our best shooter. And we are definitely still in the mindset to win now, and trading him would net us much less in a return then he provides us being on the roster. Id be Shocked if we traded him.
