That's so disturbing.

They don't have a chance, but they haven't bowed out yet. The article linked to in the OP is pretty much about the Mavs signing Blair and still planning to offer Oden.

Greg Oden's decision on where to play next season will likely come this weekend, his agent, Mike Conley, Sr., said Tuesday.
Oden was expected to pick a team early this week, but Conley said he hasn't received any formal offers from any of the six interested teams. He also wouldn't say if an offer of the veteran's minimum would be enough to land the former No. 1 overall pick. Oden has reportedly looked good in solo workouts of late, but it remains to be seen if his body will hold up. The Heat, Pelicans, Kings, Spurs, Hawks and Mavs are targeting Oden.

Story changes daily with Conley. I think he is just doing all he can to wait for a larger offer. My guess is that he has received no offers as high as he was expecting because earlier he said he had talked offers with teams.

an agent doing his job... trying to get the highest price for his client at the best possible place

whether it's Miami for a preceived easy title or NOLA to let him fully heal and develop his game is for them to decide

If true I would imagine everyone's waiting on Miami and Miami's waiting on everyone else.

I feel he's just using us to get more money out of Miami.

The only reason he shouldn't go to Miami is the pressure. The fact that all the agent propaganda seems aimed at Miami suggests he doesn't think it's too much pressure. If Miami outbids everyone he will sign with them. The question is what does he do if Miami lowballs him.

I think that is what he is struggling over. Some would argue that there would be more pressure here than Miami as Miami has already won without him so he is not needed to get them there whereas we have not won and need him more to get over the hump (I don't necessarily agree).

Had a feeling that would happen. I wouldn't be shocked if it doesn't even happen within the next 10 days. Fans are antsy, but if he and his agent are waiting for the best monetary offer, it's not like the amount offered will drop over the next month. And I'm not sure who is on Team USA, but I know they're doing shite throughout August, so if one of them gets hurt and Oden is a potential replacement, he could gain leverage.

the thing is.. Miami is already in money saving mode

I've seen where they're dangerously close to the luxury tax... which led them to get rid of Mike Miller (who is now a Memphis Grizzly). Don't know if Miami has the room to match the $3Mil offer we are supposedly going to give to Oden and the Heat stay below the luxury tax threshold

ETA: and let's remember that LeBron is entering a contract year... I think Miami has to be gearing up for a bidding war to see where James will be taking his talents in 2014-15

They're already deep into the tax. The Pelicans signing Oden will cost us ~$3m. The Heat signing him will cost them ~$11m, $3m in real money that he gets + $8m in tax.

That's some Chad level wishful thinking. We still aren't even sure if he will be able to play in the NBA this season.

And it's not like the teams involved have anything better to spend their money on. Pekovic is still holding out for a miracle when there is really no reason to hope for one.
