Shams

Huge.

How many dumbass calls happened the first half of our game that Willie didn't want to challenge. Huge rule change.

Bizarre that this isn’t a thing across all sports that have challenges. You should never lose a challenge unless you’re wrong.

I’m sure the league will instruct the Refs not to call LeBron for flopping unless it’s obvious.

They’ll probably call it up until around Christmas and then stop, just like most every “emphasis” going into a new season.

I'm still gonna zag on this one and say it doesn't make sense.

The only time we hate flopping is when it works. When the ref recognizes flopping and doesn't give the player the call, there's no issue.

So I don't see how this helps if the refs can still be duped and players can get away with a flop.

Rule would be better if it were reviewed between games and very strict with how quickly suspension would be handed out for flopping.

Does this mean that when professional athletes take jump shots and no one touches them that they don't collapse from the drop and land on their back and then shoot 10 ft across the floor?

Why would this possibly get a downvote? The person that did is not a sports fan

This. While I'm very happy they at least improved the challenge rule, you should not lose a challenge because you had to correct a ref's call.

They can’t have that because the game gets stopped enough already. At best it should be 3 and that’s it or 1 but you get another each time you win. The college baseball model sucks and is only sustainable because baseball is inherently slow and they actually get it done quickly. Even on a easy call the NBA takes 3 minutes on a good day

So, the old rule? That worked well.

i wonder if these techs count towards total techs in the season. if that is the case this rule will have huge implications for players like Draymond who could miss playoff games because they flop

The rule wasn't the issue. They simply didn't enforce it. This new rule won' work either if they don't enforce it. Just like a couple of seasons ago when the refs stopped giving calls to offensive players like Harden and Trae Young for the nonsense they pull. That was great for 3 weeks, then they went back to their old ways. The new rule was perfect, enforcing it was the issue as they just stopped doing it.

But more to the point...as I stated, this only comes up when the refs catch someone and call them for flopping. That was never the issue. The issue is when someone gets away with a flop and the ref makes the wrong call. That still won't be fixed.

What? That doesn't make sense.

We're only going to penalize when the ref recognizes a flop, which was already being "penalized" by not being rewarded for it. When a player got away with a flop in the past, they will still get away with a flop in the future.
