Would you accept the following Trade Machine-approved deal?:

Nets Acquire:

-Zion Williamson
-Kelly Olinyk

Pels Acquire:

-Nic Claxton
-Cam Johnson
-Nets 2025 First Round Pick

The Nets are not giving up that much for Zion and they don't need to match salaries. I do not believe that they want to trade either Claxton or Johnson. Also I don't think they trade a top 3 pick.

I believe if the pick falls out of the top 3, they might be willing/seeking to trade the pick. They have 3 additional 1sts as well. So they might offer something like picks #6 and #25 for Zion straight up. I would do it. But I don't think most on here would be in favor for that. They value Zion way too high.

Interesting and, perhaps, an accurate evaluation of Zion's worth in the market even with his demonstration of renewed dedication this year.

Most here, I think, would only want to trade Z for another star player. While I see both Claxon and Johnson as good players, neither are stars that could be the first or second best guy on a championship team. They are above average role players. Claxon's 10.3 pts/ 7.4 rebs is not far off from Missi's 9.1 pts/8.2 rebs. You could credibly argue that Missi, at 20 and on a cheap deal, is the better value. And Cam Johnson, unlike Trey Murphy, has yet to average 20 pts/game in the NBA.

So two role players and a pick, which I was placing at 6th or higher, isn't an exorbitant price for a guy who can be the best player on a championship team--if you are willing to roll the dice on his injury issues and think he's turned the corner maturity wise. Maybe that requires more proof in the trade market. But if he does prove it, the price to get Z goes up substantially. This could well be a buy low opportunity for an aggressive GM.

In a heartbeat, but we aren’t getting that much for Zion

Hard pass. If the pick was top 3, then I’d consider it. But not much upside with those two players.

Rather just wait for another star who may want out or his team gets sick of him and wants him out like with Zion

Booker may want out of Phoenix soon but other teams can outbid us like Houston.

Giannis is going to want out of Milwaukee soon but will want a contender.

Trae Young may want out of Atlanta but Trae and Dejounte Murray already failed once.

Joker may end up wanting out of Denver at a point but we won’t really have the assets to be competitive if we get him because of what Denver will want and what teams like OKC can offer.

I’m not saying we can’t get a disgruntled star or a player a team is fed up with but most of the obvious candidates are a bad fit or out of our price range.

Best likely chance we have is Maxey because the Sixers are that much of a shite show between PG13 and Embiid’s issues.

He missed over 50 games this year, and it was in chunks. He's not dependable, even when he's supposedly healthy. People here try to gloss over it or act like it's not a big deal. But it has an impact. A top 10 pick and an additional first is good value. Being able to do that without taking back salary is even better. That's serious value.

Cam Johnson is a solid starter and honestly worth about the same as Zion on the open market. Some might think that's crazy, but that was the talk at the deadline. The Nets turned down the same packages that Butler was rumored to be attracting. The Warriors turned to Butler after the Nets rebuffed them. If we wanted Johnson (which I don't), I think it would have to be close to a straight swap.

Are you talking about Zion?

If you believed that about him, then why would you trade him?

I tried to warn everyone that sitting him at the end of the season would only hurt his value. This is what happens. The demand went down and we wouldn't get as much now. We could try to reclaim his value, again. Or just sell low..
