re: CJ has more careless turnovers than any veteran I’ve seen

It's a double-edged sword with CJ and his turnovers. He is averaging a career high in assists at 6.0 per game, but he also has the highest number of turnovers per game in his career.
Even with the most turnovers he's ever had, it's still pretty darn low at 2.6 per game.
Contrary to what many on this board would have you believe, CJ simply doesn't turn the ball over much.

I don't believe its the turnovers, its more the way the offense operates. Per 36 can often be a misleading statistic but Ast/TO per 36 (higher the better) for Pels main ball-handlers show:
1. Dyson Daniels 4.76
2. Jose Alverado 4.04
3. CJ Mcollum 2.35
4. Brandon Ingram 1.91
5. Zion Williamson 1.42
Non-Pels
1. Mike Connelly 5.28
2. Chris Paul 4.75
3. Tyrese Halliburton 4.08
4. Marcus Smart 3.61
5. Draymond Green 3.23
6. Nikola Jokic 3.00
7. James Harden 2.73
8. Trey Young 2.62
9. Ja Morant 2.45
10. Luka Doncic 2.43
11. De'Aaron Fox 2.40
12. LeBron James 2.10
Not a tell-all by any means but an interesting look on an off-day.

I haven't been in this thread because his turnovers aren't a big problem, but they way he turns it over can be frustrating. His turnovers are a little too often lazy/bad passes. Turnovers you'd expect a 20 year old to make, not a guy like CJ. Pretty much everybody with high usage has scratch your head turnovers, LeBron falls victim to a lazy pass quite often, but it does seem like it's bonehead turnovers are the majority of CJ's.

The basketball IQ here is staggering. Don’t get the concept that not all turnovers are created equally.

So let’s have Zion quit driving and making all those plays in traffic because that comes with some turnovers.

Ok Gregg popovich. The other team doesn’t care how you arbitrarily decide which turnovers are bad or not, they’re still getting an extra possession out of the deal

Risk reward is a concept you might want to study.
