He's in better shape than he was to start the season and the difference in some games is getting noticeable.
However, he is still very out of shape.
There's really no excuse for it. But its just always going to be this way I guess. He is going to have to play his way into shape.

Kenny said hes a good 25-30 games away still. I kind of agree with that. If we all stay healthy including Zion, the hope is he starts peaking at the right time.

Until he shows that he can stop and change directions and finish a defensive play without giving up mid play, he's not where he needs to be.

Exactly, people keep pointing out his deflections and steals he had this game, and yes that’s great, but man you can see the struggle if you’re really watching. When he closes out on the perimeter he can’t even change directions most of the time, he looks like a roomba lol. I was looking at him last night and i dont know what it is but he actually seems to look heavier last night than a couple of weeks ago. We’re at 22 games and he still isn’t in shape. Damn shame

Hes healthy and impacting the game enough for us with a healthy roster to win games. I get people being frustrated about his conditioning but I’m just happy he’s on the freaking court and he at least plays 60 games. Im not disagreeing that he needs to be in shape but I rather he be on the court trying to get in shape than in rehab trying to get on the court. Baby steps man.

We are 27% through the schedule Bun
Zion done groomed people to accept this and it’s sad

Before the season a bunch of people came out and said that basically everyone was resigned to the fact that Zion needed to play to get in shape.
Coach K said it, a bunch of people surrounding the team said it.
Its no surprise at this point.
A professional athlete making 100s of millions should be in peak shape by the time training camp starts, let alone the season.

So what do you guys want? Do you want to trade him because hes out of shape? You guys whine about him not being in shape. Whats your solution? And don’t give me the BS hes suppose to be in shape because hes a professional. Thats not a solution.

I don't know... Maybe get into good enough shape to be able to play on both ends of the floor?

Ok again hes not doing before the season. Whats your solution to that?
Posted on 12/5/23 at 1:48 pm to GynoSandberg
You guys laugh- but its either deal with his often injured out of shape and talented player or trade/cut him. Can’t really cut him. He might bring something back in trade but not a lot. Or just become resigned to the fact- thats who he is and he might take several games back in shape but when he is- he makes us a contender.
Posted on 12/5/23 at 1:49 pm to Pels_Yaz
Well that's the problem isn't it? We should not have to accept it because he didn't do his job in the offseason.
Posted on 12/5/23 at 1:50 pm to supe12sta12z
Ok what do you want to do about it? Cut or trade him? Again what is your solution? Or just complain until he gets in shape.
Posted on 12/5/23 at 1:54 pm to Pels_Yaz
I don't have to do shite about it. He needs to figure it out. Until then, everyone will continue to point it out.

Not whining, observing. He's still a good player even when he's not in top condition. That's not in question. The question is how much better he could be, like MVP of the league good.
I've talked with people inside the organization and it seems like they've tried everything they know--hiring trainers, hiring chefs, setting up work outs, giving him reporting weights with penalties if he fails to meet them. You just can't make a player to get into top condition if they won't make the commitment, which, btw, is a frickin grind and half. Zion works out, he just doesn't have the insane commitment that a Lebron or MJ has to being tuned up to the highest level.
The problem isn't that he can't be a good player at a heavier weight. He can be and is, though it exposes some weaknesses in his game. But the real problem is that with that much mass there isn't much hope he can play a full season + the playoffs without lower body injury. He's just moving too much mass night after night. It takes a toll. If he did what Barkley did--going from 300 ads +/- to around 250-260 he'd not only be much more explosive but have a better chance to stay on the court.

Ok great. So basically complain until he gets in shape. Then cheer for him when he does. I love the same people who complain about him aren’t willing to trade him either.

This is my point. This is who he is. And we can lament that he doesn’t have that mentality or hope he stays healthy and helps us contend. I prefer that maybe he figures it out and if he doesn’t he stays healthy enough for us to contend.

Yes - exactly. That's why I pointed out that it's nice to see national media calling him out. Hopefully it lights a fire under his arse.

Dude is incredible at what he does. Why are you so butthurt that we'd like a really great player to be in (at minimum) average NBA shape? Maybe you're just tired of hearing the complaining, but fans/media nagging might be the only thing that works for him.
