re: Bi-polar changed take on Zion - if he's not going to be a top 5 player move on

Are you assuming peak Zion?
Is that a safe assumption?
Or are you just hoping he figures it out one day and know that's our best chance?
I think the organization and the players are getting tired of his laziness.

The other option, the starting 5 you mentioned. That's just not going to be a very good team. It's obviously my opinion, but my opinion is there is absolutely zero shot that team does anything of note.
Back to the 1st point, maybe there's also 0% on the Zion thing, but I'd hold out hope that there's a small chance Zion gets his shite together.

They played awesome defense and forced our players to take uncomfortable shots all night long. Nothing easy and limited transition while controlling the boards. It's hilarious you the Pelicans just missed shots.

That being said, 2 things can and probably are true. The above is true, but we also didn't even try to impose our will on them. We made it easy for them.
We know about Zion's lack of aggressiveness and have discussed it a lot since last night. But BI wasn't attacking like he normally does either.
The Lakers did what they were supposed to do on defense. We made it easy for them.

It's just so weird seeing guys like trey herb and Jose with this hunger and drive to get better and then zion with this massive talent and have zero desire for either

I gotta say and I'm guilty of this 100% the past 12 hours, no one can be happier about Zion's performance than Brandon Ingram right now.
He's gotten a complete pass for his own shitty performance that also lacked effort and any sort of aggressiveness or thought that he even wanted to be there playing ball, just like Zion.

I swear there has to be something to Trey coming back and Zion getting fat and losing minutes and his lack of effort.
Zion vs Denver, Minnesota and Philly last year was a top 5 player.
People forget he was making steals at crucial moments and going end to end to close games.
He's not the same guy.
My concern is that we are now two months into the season and his fitness is not only not better but getting worse.
What happens when he sprains an ankle and has to miss 5 games. He's going to come back 400 lbs.
I'm all about historical precedent. Name me some players who were 5 years into their careers and still were not physically fit and then turned it around and reached their potential?
I can't think of any. Jokic started taking better care of himself. Maybe he counts. But he was never as fat or lazy as Zion.

We'll always have the Minnesota game

Ehh I agree but we all already kne were going to get shitty games from b.i like that but it's frustrating with zion bc he could be the best player in the entire league we've seen him absolutely demolish teams on his own but it just seems like he doesn't care

The sad thing is peak Zion could win a title with this team.
There are only a handful of players I think are good enough to win one.
Jokic
Giannis
And then a huge gap to the next tier.
Embiid
Doncic
Taytum
Curry
And none of the next tier has a good enough supporting cast IMO.
It's going to be Denver vs Milwaukee or Boston at this point.
Minnesota will flounder in the playoffs. Durant is too old and their roster sucks outside the big 3. Lakers maybe, but they're old and I doubt they hold up.
I don't believe at all in OKC, LAC or Sac.
the Pels have better a roster than probably every team in the league outside Boston but Zion and Ingram are just bitches.

No they did not.
They made Zion go through a wall, and let other guys shoot, and we simply missed almost all our shots, while Lebron is walking up the court pulling 30 footers and making them.
No one on their team made BI take tough shots, he just missed them. It's incredibly difficult to even make him take a tough shot, and they don't have the type of defender to even affect him that way except Vanderbilt, and he dind't play much on BI.
No one on their team made JV go 1-7 on wide open jump shots. WHile his 3 corner 3's he took were wide open shots, i didn't care for those shots from JV. I don't mind the top of the key 3 from him.
We went 3-15 from 3 in the 2nd and 3rd quarter. You think we were just taking tough shots?
Lakers went 11-21 in those two quarters. That's the differnce in the game right there.
We watched different games if you think we were taking tough shots all night.

Everyone clearly saw the Lakers defending us very effectively except for you. They always defend us well. Look at the 40+ point game we loss last season when we were playing for seeding. It's obvious you don't want to give the Lakers any credit. They're a good defensive team for a reason.
Posted on 12/8/23 at 1:37 pm to supe12sta12z
Yeah they have a lot of big bodies that can move and protect the rim. They’re a good team overall. Have to give them credit but they’ve managed to stay healthy, too. Bc apparently Nola is where players go to get hurt.

Lebron is 5-0 vs the Pels when Zion plays.

Had we went 15 for 15 for three in those two quarters we still would have lost. That quite literally, was not the difference in the game.

i dont disagree they are good defensively.
I just think we could have easily made some shots that we nomrally would make, and it's a much different game.
I mean we were 5-12 from inside 6' in the 3rd quarter, where we were 10-17 in the first 2 quarters.
We were 2-16 in the mid range in the first 3 quarters, and that was all CJ/BI/JV. All of those shots were fairly simple open shots that those guys take all the time.
Are you really goign to argue that the 3 point shots we took were bad/tough shots? I'd say two of the ones BI took i didn't like, the rest were normal 3 point shots we take every game, where we hit them at a decent clip.
