Please review the NBA's collective bargaining agreement and get back with us.

His salary is the point of keeping him, or rather being stuck with him. Cutting him only frees up a roster spot, it doesn't do anything to change the amount of cap clogging salary you owe him. There are really 3 options going forward.
If his Chrohn's disease keeps him from playing again you can medically retire him. Insurance pays most of his salary and he comes off the salary cap. That is the most positive outcome for the Pels but they can't apply for medical retirement if his condition is actually that bad until the end of February.
The next option is to include him as part of a trade. The Pels almost did this last week in what would have been a bad trade long term IMO getting Reggie Jackson. Apparently the other moves they needed to make trading for Reggie Jackson more palatable fell through.
If none of that happens then next summer they can and likely will have to stretch him to avoid the luxury tax. That's where they take the money they owe him and put it on a payment plan to reduce the salary cap hit by spreading it out over more years.

This board is what they call a news aggregation site. We are all crowdsourcing each other to fill in our own information gaps. Individually we can't read everything or think about a situation from every angle but collectively we can. It doesn't do any of us any good to let ignorance run wild. While shaming them with ridicule can be fun, they really need to be cleansed with knowledge.

I had that attitude the first two years too. Then, I realized there is never a shortage of idiots and it's an endless, thankless job
My new policy: If someone comes on and asks a legit question, looking for help, I inform
If they about off opinions as if they know when they clearly don't, I ridicule. I think that's more than fair

Yeah but you're on Twitter. This is a dark corner of the interwebz so it's like a nice cul de sac neighborhood.
