re: Anybody else get the feeling that it’s going to be an “out of left field” type of deal?

Roll your own.
I like 6 8" forward windler from Belmont with 1.27.
You'd need to work him some to see if he can cover SF.
On offense he can carry you now and then.

In fact I do which is what I was referencing. I agree, 20+ years ago it was totally different and an ACL tear could well end someone’s career in any sport or at best would usually hinder their previous speed/explosiveness. I never said it was no big deal, it’s obviously among the worst injuries for an athlete even now.
2019 is not the same though and it hasn’t been for years now. I watched someone tear his ACL in a playoff game when I was in school, this was around December, and was back to form by summer workouts in June. AP is another good example of a modern quicker recovery who came back and was still great. Brady, Gronk, Lowry, Rollins, Tiger, the list goes on and on of great athletes who returned to form after a tear. What I’ve seen really slow someone down or end it completely is when they do it a second time or even tear the other ACL. But a first time tear is definitely recoverable today for many, many athletes - I’ve read as high as 85-90% can return to their previous level, especially professionals and Olympians.
I was a little ambitious with my inside of 6 months comment, but surprised at the backlash with so many saying he’ll be out the entire season. That is ludacris - he’ll be back well in advance of the playoffs and probably by the all star break at latest. It doesn’t take a year in 2019 for an athlete of his caliber. That was my main point in that comment.
I view an Achilles completely differently. I honestly do not care about this topic enough to go research as much as some, but offhand I cannot think of anyone that’s come back from that and gotten back to where they were. KD is one of the best in the world, if anyone can it’s him but I just won’t believe it till I see it. Guys like Brand, Wes Matthews, Rudy Gay, even Kobe came back and were ok, good even but never the same. Age obviously plays a factor too.
Moreover, I absolutely believe the Warriors will be gunshy when they have someone on their own team that just came back from it and doesn’t look the same at all from where I’m sitting.

I agree that the majority of athletes come back from ACL tear’s at or near full strength. 90% might not be far off in the current age of medicine, I’m just saying that it isn’t a guarantee that he will be back, and when he likely does return, it will be more like late February/early March.
As for the Achilles, we really don’t know where we are with the new surgery yet. Boogie will be a good text case next season, but I’m not sure we see much of a statistical drop off from him. His ability to score from the outside combined with his scoring ability in the post should allow him to put up the numbers we are accustomed to seeing. The thing to look for with boogie are his drives to the basket for dunks. He already started doing this less and less in recent seasons, weight likely had much to do with that, but I think we see far less of it in 19-20. How he looks in those instances should tell us a lot about how that surgery is progressing.
Regardless of how you feel about boogie, I want him to return to form; on a losing team, preferably. Injuries like that just suck. That “what could have been” stuff sucks. Hopefully this new surgery removes the achillies tear from the “career ending” category

Honestly in hindsight I wish we had never traded Buddy.

Hindsight is 20 20.
You get the opportunity to trade a rookie and a first for a borderline allstar, that tends to be a no brainer.

Exactly. Hence the notation in my post.

Id love to still have Buddy. I wish he’d have shown that 42% 3pt shot when he was with the pels. He started getting better near the end of his pels tenure, but man that start was rough

That’s all I was saying.
I wasn’t trying to argue that it wasn’t the right move at the time.
Just that in retrospect, it arguably worked out better for Sacto than us. I’m not trying to argue that Demps should have foreseen this conclusion.

You think he’s coming back from a torn ACL in under 6 months?

That would be ideal.
