Good new article from Kevin Arnovitz. LINK Some cool bits about the Niko trade, AD still thinks of himself as a 4 even though it doesn't matter as much with positionless basketball. It's a long article but well worth the read. What I liked the most was Wesley Johnson's opinion of AD as a superstar teammate.

quote:

A few minutes later as Davis heads to the shower, Johnson is asked to share his thoughts on the recent beef between his former teammate, Chris Paul, and Davis' former teammate, Rajon Rondo. Johnson rejects the notion that there is any truth to Rondo's claim that Paul is a "horrible teammate." Johnson says that while he liked playing with Paul, some others clearly don't and this is no great judgment on Paul.

"Some guys liked playing with Kobe, some didn't," Johnson says. "Some guys like playing with LeBron, some guys don't. Not everyone likes playing with everyone else. People are different."

When he's told that everyone seemingly likes to play with Anthony Davis, Johnson smiles slightly. "That's true," he says. "We need to work on that."

Is his teammate suggesting that Davis needs be more ... exacting?

As great as he is AD still has so much room to grow.

He's definitely saying that he thinks AD has room to grow into being an alpha and a "dog", if you will.

Good article. Thanks for sharing.

It was interesting insight into Holiday's free agency as well. I don't remember the Mavs being serious. I always heard Indy. AD really has as an aura about him that people gravitate to. I really do feel optimistic that he sticks around. He gets this team where he needs to be he can be (and already should be considered) royalty in New Orleans akin to Drew Brees.

i know you intended to say something nice, but it’s statements like these that give credence to the opinion that NOLA isn’t a basketball market.

Anywhere he goes...he can be likened to a great quarterback.

To even mention Brees when talking about Davis implies a natural bias that Davis/NBA/Pelicans will never be on equal footing(much less surpass them) with the Saints...even though we’re getting close to 20 years here.

The real legend to compare AD to is Pistol Pete in this region.

You’re not the only one who does it on this site, but let’s not make everything about the Saints.
