FWIW the money may not be that big of a deal. Let's say that by the time a buyout would happen 20% of the season would be left and we still had the $4.1 million Ryno exception. 20% of $4.1 = $800k 20% of the vet minimum $1.2 = $250k
$550k is chump change to Granger. I guess you'd have to have the Heat, Thunder, and Spurs all not be interested first. Then you'd have to convince him a test drive with us when we currently can only offer the MLE would be in his best interest.

It's mostly been in back and forth tweets with fans and journalists. Nothing super solid, but buyouts are pretty straightforward, especially with experienced vets. They know how much they can get on the open market and that amount saves the team that buys them out money. We'll have to see what Philly's final cap numbers are, if they are still below the floor, a buyout of Granger would save them no money, but it still could be of some benefit to them. It seems like taking a $500k buyout from him and spreading that to the players that will still be Sixers next year would be the better move than refusing to take the buy out and pissing off your long term players. "Hey MCW and Noel, here's your Granger bonus, don't say your GM never did nothing for you"

Pretty sure the $4.25M would be prorated, so more like $1.5M (4.25*29/82 1.50) minus whatever they could offer.

He's talking about me down playing the MLE.

Part of me feels so sad for Granger, but the other part of me thinks he is going to stay in Philly and pad his stats so he gets more in FA.

Granger is below mediocre now. He's a shell of his former self.
Not worth the extra money to even bring him in and see how he fits.
