My favorite band. Hard to pick just five. I can say for sure that Green Earrings and Caves of Altamira would be included in any top five that I arrange. Those are probably #1 and #2.
The other three could be any combination of
Charlie Freak
Daddy Don't Live in That New York City No More
Boddhisattva
Everyone's Gone to the Movies
Black Cow
Glamour Profession
Janie Runaway
And probably a few more that would get considerable attention.
Not even touching the solo work. Fagen's stuff is incredible.

Yikes ... what a tough one.
1.) Brooklyn (Owes the Charmer)
2.) Time Out of Mind
3.) Black Cow
4.) The Royal Scam
5.) Daddy Don't Live in that New York City No More
ETA: Pretzel Logic, Don't Take Me Alive, Kings, Home At Last, Your Gold Teeth II could all be in my top five as well.

Gold Teeth II is a great call.
Charlie Freak before that.
This has been a great thread. The thing about Steely Dan looking back is that they always had great musicians backing them up.

I was a big Dan fan back in the day, before I became a punk. This thread has brought back some great memories of some terrific songs I had all but forgotten.
My top 5, in no particular order:
Black Friday - I loaded this one up and blasted it loud back in October '08 when it looked like it was happening IRL
Rikki Don't Lose That Number - just a brilliant recording that's just as fresh in 2019 as it was 45 years ago when it came out
My Old School - this, rather than Reeling In The Years, was the song that hooked me initially...the horn riff right after the line "California tumbles into the sea" is still one of my favorite pop musical moments
Fire In The Hole - thanks to parrotdr for reminding me of this underrated masterpiece
Pretzel Logic - another brilliant, evocative record that should have been a much bigger hit when it came out - Fagen's electric piano work on this is absolutely perfect
