You have to pick, what’s your favorite song?

Edit: gotta pick just one
Impossible task but that makes it interesting. For me I’m going to say Yo La Tengo's Last Day of Disco. It’s got some emotional attachments for me, I remember having it burned to a CD that I had to use one of those cassette tape adapters to play in my beat up Geo Prism. I had a morning summer English class that I was taking and I’d listen to it every single day going to and coming back to there. For some reason it cleared and soothed my mind and became somewhat of a ritual. And the best were the mornings where it was a bit foggy out which just set the stage perfectly. Not really sure why this particular song had such an effect but it did.

The album art perfectly fits the song too.

The National - Slow Show LINK
Absolute perfect love song.
Simple chord progression any novice can play. The instrumentation, lyrics and production take it to the next level

It’s a badass Akira-esque video for sure.

Fantastic song. Probably my favorite National song. Or Mistaken for Strangers. Or Mr. November
But Slow Show is so brilliant. The coda is absolutely beautiful. And before that it’s hard to beat the lyric “Looking for somewhere to stand and stay
I leaned on the wall and the wall leaned away
Can I get a minute of not being nervous
And not thinking of my dick?”

The key change with the callback is my favorite part
Also so fricking good live
Mr November is up there. Geese of Beverley Road is their second best song IMO

Waterloo Sunset is a potential top ten song for me. This thread is loaded with greatness thus far

Way out of left field but Minus the Bear - Absinthe Party at the Fly Honey warehouse is up there

Since people are doing multiples, I’ll go full blown top ten (this could obviously change day to day)
Built to Spill- Carry the Zero
LCD Soundsystem- Someone Great
Bob Dylan- Desolation Row
Sonic Youth- Teenage Riot
The War On Drugs- Red Eyes
The Smiths- There is a Light That Never Goes Out
Neutral Milk Hotel- Holland, 1945
Panda Bear- Bros
David Bowie- Heroes
Songs Ohia- Farewell Transmission
That was tough. Probably should have a Beatles track there, but wasn’t sure which one. Maybe While My Guitar Gently Weeps, call that one 10b

If I did a next top ten, 3rd Planet and Slow Show would probably be there. And I love The Rat too:

Now I go out alone if I go out at all

YOU’VE GOT A NERVE
Seen them live a half dozen times. Always fun to see their absolute joy of a drummer go fricking wild while the rest of the band looks uncomfortable in their suits lol
