What a trainwreck. Good for some laughs. And...the video quality is amazing.

It's from the Mike Douglas Show (1972). The first number is Memphis Tennessee, second, Johnny B Goode. Exceptionally crystal-clear video (except for the audio). John's off-vocals are brutal. And then there's the star -- Yoko's tortuous demon-possessed caterwauling -- which was apparently supposed to be the "harmonica". (Check out Chuck Berry's eyeballs the moment he hears it):

Chuck's reaction to Yoko

John and Chuck bonded (Yoko was totally ignored until the three arose from the panel to perform the second number - Johnny B Goode). THANKFULLY, the sound guy completely cut Yoko's mic after that -- unbeknownst to her.

There is a second shortened video of the same performance (terrible quality, but worth it just for reading the additional epic Yoko comments.

another LINK, more hilarious commentary

Sample comments:

* Here we have 3 legends!! John Lennon, Chuck Berry and the Man who turn of the Yoko's microphone

* The way Chuck, John and band where able to ignore that extraterrestrial distress call in the middle of that classic song was the epitome of professionalism

* Sounds like a goat getting f***ed

* Yoko: “I think I’ll scream like a banshee during one of the greatest rock songs ever written. Yeah...that’s what I’ll do.”

* John was singing flat, Yoko was screeching like a banshee-monkey. I loved how Chuck's eyes widened when that crazy woman started her vocalizations

* All I heard was a small lamb being slaughtered

"Yoko's biggest problem wasn't her lack of talent, it was her lack of self awareness."

It’s 50 years old and you’re just seeing it for the first time NOW?

How pussy whipped was John, for letting that talentless woman on the stage?

And then allowing a hot microphone to be placed in front of her face?

A Small Eternity With Yoko Ono - Frank Zappa

Frank Zappa did a show in NYC in which John Lennon and Yoko came on stage and joined in for a bit. Yoko's screeching really pissed off Zappa and he took snippets of her vocals to make this one.

Who said it pissed off Zappa? I can understand how it didn’t make the album, but Frank was hardly opposed to discordant noise.

Nasal Retentive Calliope Music

Anything Anytime Anyplace For No Reason At All. Zappa was always freak-friendly. Hell, his first album was titled Freak Out!

His titling the song "A Small Eternity With Yoko Ono" is a pretty good clue.

Historical, hysterical Yoko and the shared laughs is THE point.

(If that's you, Dick Cavett, it's been a while )
